TDM 001: TFLU

( 1 ) After leaving the teleportation chamber, you are gently coaxed out of the hospital and encouraged to find a place to stay. Maybe you've had time to check out your A5 app. Maybe you're just settling in. It's cloudy, overcast, cold -- you'll want to seek out someplace warm. Also, your device is beeping. A lot. The tech on the island works, it just doesn't work right. You can't seem to send a message to the correct person. It's time for... Texts From Last Universe ( 2 ) What's this? Your bingo card has just been beamed to a stranger's inbox...?! ( sample A5 cards -- NSFW, may contain triggering content, please feel free to use/ignore as you see fit) ( 3 ) And now you're receiving messages from other users that they don't remember sending: Nice shirt. It would look better on my floor. 10/10 would ride it into the sunset. This user thinks you're attractive. u up? 🍆 ( 4 ) Once you figure out that the robots have been hacking your devices, it's no easy feat to track one down and demand they stop. "So The Augur wills!" they wail in a monotone. "So it is done!" Any attempt to actually contact The Augur and get back into the hospital will be met with beefy robot bodyguards, who suggest taking a gentler approach to fix your devices. If you know what they mean. Wink. (This is your overt kink prompt. Please label any threads accordingly.) Note: All prompts are optional. The theme for this TDM is "malfunctioning devices." Only when there is concern that they might be in a bad place. Those robots..and even some of the people..seem untrustworthy.

[Subaru looks up at the man, looking like a completely normal human that most likely came from a household of wealth. Rich looking victorian style layers of black a sharp contrast to an almost too pale complexion.]

I felt it was easier to move you then engage something in battle.

[Jiang Cheng reluctantly has to admit that that's a fair point. After all: if he couldn't fight those robots, himself, he definitely can't expect anyone else to do any better. (Why yes, he is his own standard of perfection, thanks for noticing.)]

A fair point. Those "robots" are more powerful than they seem.

[He still hates saying it, but he'll at least drop the "how dare you carry me?!?!?" topic at that. For the most part.]

But then, you are stronger than you seem, too.

[Subaru bows his heads slightly. He isn't afraid to reveal what he is, but sometimes the reactions are less then positive.]

I am a vampire. Strength is something we excel in.

[Sadly, Jiang Cheng falls under the category of "not positive reactions" as well, though he doesn't attack right away.]

You're not like any vampire I've ever seen.

[But will that keep Jiang Cheng from attacking forever? That's doubtful.]

Vampires are different from world to world. Where I am from, there isn't the same fear and stigmata that other worlds have. We live among everyone else. My family were nobles.

[He often expects to be attacked as soon as the word is out of his mouth so he had been mentally prepared for any reaction.]

I don't kill humans and I only drink what I need for survival.

Nobles?!

[That's just pushing it! Sadly, it doesn't matter much to Jiang Cheng what a vampire does. It's a twisted existence; exactly the kind of existence that Jiang Cheng has grown up gently erasing or, if that didn't work, brutally eradicating from the world.]

How noble, to feed on humans. How noble indeed, to refuse to move on after death!

After death? I'm not dead. I was born a vampire. Both my parents and my brother are also vampires. We have never died.

[He has a heartbeat and bleeds like any human. The vampires on this man's world must be very scary.]

[That gets an even more intense glower in return, though there's less anger and more confusion behind it.]

You exist like that, looking like a human but not being human?

[That... is admittedly also messed up, but at least it doesn't corrupt humanity, or anything else about the natural order of things.]

I don't exactly have any other choice. I have no other way to live. But I eat normal food, live, breath and can die just as a human would. But sometimes I must have a supplement or I too would starve, like a human would if they didn't eat.

[He just also has a lifespan that extends well past that of a human and some extra abilities.]

My brother provided me with that..but with him not here it does complicate things.

[Subaru tries not to worry too much about that right now. All problems have an answer..he just needs to find it.]

[Jiang Cheng, for one, isn't sure that anything parroting a human is better than it just admitting it's not human... but he'll at least tolerate an existence he's not sure is harmful. For now.]

What kind of supplement?

Blood. Normal food can only do so much to sustain me. So every few days I must have blood.

For us..we generally pick someone important to us who is willing to be our constant supply. It makes it less complicated then having to always have to find it in other ways.

Then, you still turn a human into a meal.

[In Jiang Cheng's world view, that is just Not Okay, regardless of the circumstances. Will he get used to such differences from his own world and see a bit more nuance? Probably, eventually. But there's been enough change forced on him already just by being dragged here that he's not exactly in a magnanimous and open-minded mood.

At least he's staying out of murder mode for now, though? Silver lining.]
