TDM 001: TFLU

( 1 ) After leaving the teleportation chamber, you are gently coaxed out of the hospital and encouraged to find a place to stay. Maybe you've had time to check out your A5 app. Maybe you're just settling in. It's cloudy, overcast, cold -- you'll want to seek out someplace warm. Also, your device is beeping. A lot. The tech on the island works, it just doesn't work right. You can't seem to send a message to the correct person. It's time for... Texts From Last Universe ( 2 ) What's this? Your bingo card has just been beamed to a stranger's inbox...?! ( sample A5 cards -- NSFW, may contain triggering content, please feel free to use/ignore as you see fit) ( 3 ) And now you're receiving messages from other users that they don't remember sending: Nice shirt. It would look better on my floor. 10/10 would ride it into the sunset. This user thinks you're attractive. u up? 🍆 ( 4 ) Once you figure out that the robots have been hacking your devices, it's no easy feat to track one down and demand they stop. "So The Augur wills!" they wail in a monotone. "So it is done!" Any attempt to actually contact The Augur and get back into the hospital will be met with beefy robot bodyguards, who suggest taking a gentler approach to fix your devices. If you know what they mean. Wink. (This is your overt kink prompt. Please label any threads accordingly.) Note: All prompts are optional. The theme for this TDM is "malfunctioning devices." They can be fixed by indulging in the squares on your cards. For the sake of the TDM, you can use one of the pre-generated examples or a wildcard from the kink list. [ ariadne shakes, one of her eyebrows raising despite herself as clary talks. ] You think this is a kidnapping?

I mean, we have been taken away from where we live - but it's kind of a lot of us for whoever did it to manage ransom demands.

Not all kidnappings require ransoms, though; sometimes people snatch other people just to hold them hostage and see how far they can push until the victim breaks. [ And it's not like these people/robots/whatever won't have enough entertainment at their disposal if today is any indication of life in this place.

But she shrugs. ] Whatever you want to call it, I definitely wasn't offered the chance to RSVP before they brought me here.

Seems like a waste of resources. [ ariadne's had... different run-ins with evil. ] There's got to be some sort of reason behind it. Even sadists usually go with one victim at a time.

[ and even in the midst of a conversation like this, ari flashes her a smile. ] You're right. Arguing semantics doesn't really matter. We were definitely abducted and we definitely have to find a way back.

And maybe a way for these watches to not be fucking up so badly.

Other than the way they— [ she gestures back in the direction of the hospital ] —suggest, you mean? Because they seemed pretty adamant about how to fix them. [ Some of the options wouldn't be so bad, but the idea of hooking up with someone just to get a piece of technology to function correctly? It just doesn't feel right.

She'd much rather just take it off and break it. ]

I mean, there's got to be a mechanical way to fix them. Rather than "please fuck and we'll fix it for you". [ she gestures at the watch, then sighs. ] At least, maybe there's someone around here who has some technical expertise. I don't have any, unfortunately.

Yeah, me neither. But I'm sure we can find someone. [ There's got to be a Bill Gates or Steve Jobs-type running around here somewhere, right? ] If nothing else, I'm sure asking around won't hurt; it might just piss off the robots if they catch wind of it.

[ Just like her demanding to see the Augur did. ]

It might help to know what the robots do when they're really pissed off. [ ariadne smiles suddenly, but there's no humor in it. ] Selfishly, I'm hoping I'm not going to be the one who actually finds out, though.

[ Clary's eyes widen slightly at the idea until Ariadne clarifies she doesn't want to be the one to volunteer. Then she laughs. ] I'm sure there's someone out there who wouldn't mind being the guinea pig for it. But I'm hoping it won't be me, either.

Well. You look out for me, Clary, and I'll look out for you. [ easy peasy. making allies in a situation like this is vital - and clary seems like she's got a fine head on her shoulders. time will tell. ]

Until we come across a technological whiz somewhere around here, I'm figuring the next order of business is finding a place to crash for the night. You have any ideas?

Deal, [ she agrees with a smile. After all, having allies here won't hurt a bit, and Ariadne seems nice enough. And skeptical enough. ]

Let's see... [ She scans their immediate area, pointing towards buildings as she slowly turns. ] Abandoned, decrepit, pretty sure it'll fall on us the moment we enter... [ Turning back to Ariadne, Clary gives a sardonic smile. ] Want to explore more? See if there's anything a little less destroyed?

[ she laughs brightly, pulling her hair back into a ponytail. ] I don't know that I've seen anything better around here. And honestly, they might be falling apart, but some of the foundations on these buildings look pretty good. We could probably find somewhere that isn't too dangerous.

[ ariadne might not know much about technology, or robots, or whatever the hell is going on here - but this, she's an expert on. literally. ]

[ Ariadne seems confident about this, so Clary figures she'll just follow her lead. It's not like she herself knows much of anything about building stability or safety. ]

Then by all means, [ she says with a gesture, suggesting Ariadne lead the way. ]
