![]() ( 1 ) After leaving the teleportation chamber, you are gently coaxed out of the hospital and encouraged to find a place to stay. Maybe you've had time to check out your A5 app. Maybe you're just settling in. It's cloudy, overcast, cold -- you'll want to seek out someplace warm. Also, your device is beeping. A lot. The tech on the island works, it just doesn't work right. You can't seem to send a message to the correct person. It's time for... Texts From Last Universe( 2 ) What's this? Your bingo card has just been beamed to a stranger's inbox...?! ( sample A5 cards -- NSFW, may contain triggering content, please feel free to use/ignore as you see fit) ( 3 ) And now you're receiving messages from other users that they don't remember sending: Nice shirt. It would look better on my floor. 10/10 would ride it into the sunset. This user thinks you're attractive. u up? 🍆 ( 4 ) Once you figure out that the robots have been hacking your devices, it's no easy feat to track one down and demand they stop. "So The Augur wills!" they wail in a monotone. "So it is done!" Any attempt to actually contact The Augur and get back into the hospital will be met with beefy robot bodyguards, who suggest taking a gentler approach to fix your devices. If you know what they mean. Wink. (This is your overt kink prompt. Please label any threads accordingly.) Note: All prompts are optional. The theme for this TDM is "malfunctioning devices." They can be fixed by indulging in the squares on your cards. For the sake of the TDM, you can use one of the pre-generated examples or a wildcard from the kink list. This can be used as a free bingo square completion once you have been accepted into the game. Players are welcome to wildcard their own TDM prompts; we only ask that you try to stick to the theme. [ But okay, that's enough for him to go off of...
Eventually a Japanese teenager in school uniform should amble over. He's tallish at 5'9" but slouches like nobody's business, so it's hard to tell. ]
no subject
Oh, hey.
[school uniform; even his world had those back when he was still there.]
Prompto's Petuniaporium, at your service.
[wait-]
The Prompto part is me, by the way.
no subject
[ Or "joker", if you want to stick with his username. He'll respond to either. Or...anything, really. Ren's perpetually easygoing in general, and he lifts a hand in a sort of wave. At least blond hair doesn't surprise him much; he has too many blonds in his life as is. ]
This is better than the window seat I took over.
[ WHY JUST A WINDOW SEAT, YOU LOSER, ]
no subject
[he gives a small Vana White display of his arms over the amazing place he's set up for Ren, Joker, Jokerren, whatever- to take a good nap at. please leave good yelp reviews, it's practically the only inn in the entire city, as far as Prompto knows.
which probably goes without saying. cities have inns, right? wouldn't that have been a better place to land at than a place with a bunch of eerie looking floral cases that have been abandoned for what looks like the better half of a century?
best not to ask stupid questions.]
Make yourself at home, I guess. Sorry that it's not much.
no subject
[ He's good at cleaning! He enjoys it! But first...
He'll slip that bracelet off, and accidentally turn off his auto-translate because of it. So unless Prompto is speaking Japanese or English, Ren is screwed here. ...And his English isn't as great as Ann's.
Completely unaware this is a feature at all since no one explained it to them, he offers up the bracelet to Prompto. ]
I'd give it at least three stars.
no subject
[he sure does sound like one of those trail hippies when he talks like that. but he takes Ren's bracelet, as careful as he would his own, not knowing whether or not these things are fragile.
and then, he starts talking, and Prompto's lips part, a questioning gaze on his face as if he has no idea what in the hell is actually going on.]
Uh.
[he looks down at the bracelet; it's the only thing that's changed since before a minute ago.
drawing a question mark in the air, he tries to communicate back.]
Whatcha say?
[need this back, bro? he holds it out for Ren to take a look at.]
no subject
He puts the bracelet back on, then cautiously says: ]
I'm really hoping that was only because of the bracelet.
[ It would be incredibly inconvenient if all the language translation stuff just STOPPED... ]
no subject
oh, but then the sound comes back and he understands exactly what Ren was saying. that's kind of cool, and amazing, in a weird way. his eyebrows raise, and he takes note of what just happened.]
Shoot. Now I won't be able to understand you if you sleep talk.
[he smiles, and then notes-]
You can probably sign some basic things if you're really stuck, though! Not sure if I'll understand that either, but, never know.
no subject
Ren nods, after a second. ]
I feel like maybe I should try to learn a few words at some point, in case these actually stop working. [ HAHA... ]
no subject
he reaches forward to take the bracelet back again, not taking a huge investment in how much or how little personal space Ren was expecting out of this entire exchange. then, it strikes him that they're:
a. supposed to be letting Ren take a nap
and
b. he doesn't really have much in the way of words he wants to teach him.
he looks around the room for inspiration. there's a fake flower on the counter, though, and he picks it up and hands it over to Ren. the word comes out something like flos.]
Get it? Flower.
Sorry for the delay, I've been speed replaying to finish my app and then suddenly, a week later.
Flower. [ Flos. He repeats it carefully, trying to get the accent. Then, in Japanese: ] Flower.
[ The general type, he's assuming, rather than the specific genus. ]
dude you're good, i hope you got your app in! i love seeing personas around ♥
[he flashes an acknowledging smile towards the other, and tries to commit to memory the same word Ren had just used. he's not sure if it'll ever come up useful, but it had this nice sort of flow to it. his native language sounds pretty cool, if you ask him. but that's probably the cross-universal weeb coming out of him.
he laughs a little, and then points to his head, right above his ear, and then at Ren's, mimicking a motion letting him know he should wear it.]
Uhh... Yeah, there's not really a word for that. I think.
[he's mostly just messing around at this point.]
Accessorizing is key.
Just submitted so hopefully we can have real live in game CR as well!
And, well. It's Ren. This sort of ridiculousness is right up his alley, so he takes the flower and tucks it behind his ear, making a "ta-dah" sort of gesture.
Is he GORGEOUS? ]
I think it really ties the entire trapped in another world look together.
amamiya, it's happening!
... god, he really did it. there's a wide smile on his enthusiastic face, as he gives a massive thumbs up towards him.]
Stunning! A look that I've gotta say, is super forget-me-not.
[oh god, everything about this is awful. he has a bright idea, of course, and that is to take his camera out. he points at it, as if asking permission to snag a shot.]
I'm excited!!
But for now, he gives a thumbs up, assuming that may be a universal sign of okay.
If it isn't, he's in trouble. ]
no subject
well, for the most part. he really ought to stop taking candid shots mid combat. but he smiles brightly as he turns the power on the device on, brings it up to his eye, and takes a shot of Ren, enabling a soft blur to everything else in the room. a flower in someone's hair, in a room that looks rundown and destroyed. it's got an artsy kind of feel to it, like stating: even if the world is falling down all around, there's still beauty left in the hearts of people in it.
he views the shot through the preview window, and, as expected, it looks pretty good. turning it around to Ren, he shows it off so that he can see the hard work.]
Oh man, this turned out really good. I've gotta find a way to share it through these bracelets.
[not that he understood any of that, but the general tone is positive and warm.]
got in & just waiting on an a5 to intro!
So he leans in to examine the shot, and while he doesn't understand anything technical like the use of space or lighting, he does think it looks nice. You know, without being totally overconfident about his own looks - he usually thinks he's pretty average in that department, without being self-deprecating at all. ]
Nice. [ Thumbs up, again. ] Can't say my selfies turn out this good regularly, though...
heck yeah
I bet you take really good selfies. Your down angle has great proportions.
[ah, cute. a conversation between two broken languages about the same topic.
he swipes a few photos back, showing Ren the ones that he's taken since coming here: pictures of broken down houses, a water fountain that no longer has running water, the hospital in which they all arrived. he's documented a fair share of it, and if someone was particularly good at cartography, they'd be in serious business to mapping out the city.]
no subject
He even reaches out to tap Prompto's wrist to get him to go back a photo so he can look at it a little longer, since the other guy was swiping through pretty fast. ]
You've been a lot of places, huh...I saw some of this, but not all. I'll have to pick your brain later to map it out.
[ Because he DOES do that for new places. Just...thief habits, you know. ]
no subject
upon grabbing his attention, it's pretty obvious with what he's interested in despite the language differential, and he swipes back a frame to let Ren get a better view of whatever it was that had interested him. he makes a motion with his fingers, thumb and index together, and then spacing apart, to let him know that the screen has ZOOM IN. ENHANCE. ZOOM IN. features.]
Whenever I get to a new place, I can't really sit still. So... yeah, I wandered around a lot and just took pics of whatever interested me.
[he smiles at the other, explaining his highly complex methodology of finding good photo ops. as Ren looks deeper into the pic, he bows his head in the other's direction to see what angle he was trying to find from there. because he's nosy, as usual.]
no subject
It's weird being in a ruined city, isn't it...kind of makes me miss it.
no subject
no use trying to parse it, though. it did look like a neat fountain, but almost sad. like it was missing its most important part: free flowing water to dance around it and fill it with life.]
Everything around here is just like this fountain. Wanting to be used, and probably forgotten its purpose.
[he looks around the florist shop. it's here that he decides to bring this tiny square of the city back to life again. not today, but, in the future. when things have settled down and there's a moment to breathe properly.]
Next time you need a place to crash, I'll do my best to make sure I have a bed to put you up. And maybe I can decorate with all those fake flowers. Time to plant some roots, I guess.
[sad, a pun that Ren can't even enjoy.]
no subject
Ren makes the choice to do so, solely because he's curious, and they're being bad about this whole napping idea. ]
What's that language, if you don't mind my asking? It sounds sort of familiar but very...not.
no subject
Prompto watches Ren slip the bracelet comfortably back on his wrist, and it's nice that they're properly communicating again. it was kind of fun, though, if he has to admit.]
I guess you could call it Lucian? We all speak pretty much the same language across the continent.
[he's never heard the language that Ren speaks, though, and he returns the question with one of his own.]
Do you have a lot of languages where you come from?
sorry for the delay! this week just, disappeared.
Hm...yeah, pretty much every country has their own language, and some have more than one. I'm speaking Japanese right now - the only other language I know is English, and one of my friends is far better at it than any of the rest of us.
[ He gets very good grades but Ann has them all beat in English, okay. ]
s'all good!
