TDM 009: I'M IN LIKE WITH YOU

TDM 009: I'M IN LIKE WITH YOU

00. Arrival

This time, you come out of the water, the Nameless Island's own inherent energy drawing people in. It's like being suspended between realities and abruptly pushed from behind through a rift in dimensions. It may make you sick, or that might be the motion of the ocean, lifting you to the surface and carrying you to shore.

Waterlogged and covered in sand, new arrivals will be greeted by robots who welcome them with towels and bracelet devices. The A5 card is already loaded up. Feel free to explore the Island, though there isn’t much to see. Most of the buildings are abandoned and in dire need of repair, and beyond the city lingers a thick fog that obscures much of the wilderness from view. Wander too far into this fog, and you will find yourself mysteriously looping back to where you began, your memories of what you were doing and how you got there erased.

With that in mind, it may be wise to stake your claim on a rundown apartment, a tent on the beach, or a bed in the “comfortable” new barracks. Your inventory will be found a day later, wrapped up haphazardly and delivered to each person's makeshift home.

I. STARGAZER

On the first night that new arrivals wash ashore, the moon rises. It's full and beautiful and surrounded by stars.

The robots quickly bring old, dusty telescopes out of storage and line them up on the beach to help people get a truly spectacular view.

"Look to the heavens! Behold, the chicken, the cat, the owl, the donkey!"

It's... the cock, the pussy, the hooters, and the ass. For the rest of the night, characters will become fixated on the specific asset associated with the constellation they've gotten an eyeful of.

Whether this leads to some body worship or just casual appreciation is up to you.

You can learn about the stars and constellations later this month in some of the rare, non-pornographic books in the library. (More info will go up soon, so please be patient!)

II. STIMULATING CONVERSATION

An ancient courting ritual has been announced! It involves the give-and-take of candy hearts with slogans printed on them. Of course, since these hearts are being manufactured by robots, their sense of taste is a little... off? Or perhaps off-putting?

"You'll do."
"5/10."
"Acceptable."
"Sloppy Seconds."

Receiving a negative heart makes one feel insecure, jealous, and submissive.

"Be mine."
"Nicest ass."
"Swell bulge."
"They're good lays, Bront."

Receiving a positive heart will make one feel confident, boastful, and dominant.

Your friendly neighborhood 'bots will give them out to anyone who asks - and maybe even those who don't.

III. Eat Or Dare

The robots have set up a stall by the beach with a banner that reads: Eat Or Dare. They have procured bigger candy hearts than ever before -- fist-sized and larger -- with actions written on them instead of derogatory slogans.

"Take a dive."
"Lick me."
"Get handsy."

The name of the game is to follow the instructions or forfeit the challenge by making the evidence disappear into your mouth. Delicious!

Those who eat the candy hearts will feel themselves getting giddy and unreasonably invested in the love affairs of others. They will feel compelled to play matchmaker to spread the cheer.

:C but it's candy

[personal profile] nuvellity 2021-01-22 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Linhardt, no! Spit that out!

[ Oh no, he ate it. How will she explain this to Edelgard? "I'm sorry, your highness, your bishop has been poisoned on my watch. Please do not execute me?" ]

I had no plans to eat this. [ Except she did, she absolutely did. It's candy. And it's new. But now that that's clear and the inevitable has happened...

... is it research time? ]

How do you feel? Do you find yourself having strange urges?

It's always research time

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-01-22 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[In true researcher Linhardt fashion, he ignores her admonishment and swallows. Ugh. It feels like chalk all the way down. He shudders.]

It's not immediately poisonous, just repulsive.

[Honestly, learning that a.) Linhardt was present and b.) Linhardt poisoned himself to learn something wouldn't surprise Edelgard in the least.

Hmm. Strange urges. Linhardt holds his chin and thinks.]

Yes, actually. I feel a strong desire to lick you, which is rather disgusting.

[He shoves his heart at Constance and places two of his fingers on his throat, feeling for his pulse.]

My pulse is also quicker than usual and I feel warm. I'm also experiencing a higher than usual awareness of your physical attributes.

[personal profile] nuvellity 2021-01-23 10:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ Constance is starting to feel a type of stress that she usually associates with Hapi. She throws his candy heart on the floor, along with hers, and crushes them under her heel. She has to make sure that he does not eat this again. ]

I would implore you to refrain from licking me, even if I am absolutely not disgusting, but instead resplendent and beautiful. [ This needs to be stressed, she is not disgusting, how dare you.

That said, Constance has knows that there is one simple, crass word for Linhardt's situation and she would rather not harass another green haired, Saint-crested person for a while. ]

Shall we find someone that you are more amenable to licking?

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-01-23 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well. That does solve the situation. Provided the magical compulsion doesn't make them stoop to the floor and lick up the hearts. Oh, that's a disgusting thought.]

You're not disgusting.

[ What an odd leap to make. Constance is quite correct in her assessment of herself, though it seems incomplete. Linhardt wracks his brain, trying to come up with a more complete list of adjectives. Unfortunately, most of the ones that come to mind right now are ones even Linhardt can't say with a straight face. Not all of them, though. ]

You are indeed beautiful and resplendent, though more importantly, you're interesting.

[ Linhardt finds most people attractive, it's interacting with them that's offputting.]

It's the licking itself that's disgusting. I don't consider myself particularly prudish, but I fail to see how licking is an activity that's supposed to engender desire in the receiver.

[ He's had partners before, and while he's indulged requests due to his experimental nature, none of them have ever licked him. ]

For example, I doubt my licking you would change your estimation of my attractiveness in either direction. My oddity, yes. Attractiveness, no. Actually, the same is true of your activity: I wouldn't find you more or less beautiful if you pushed me into the water. I would only make sure I avoided you when you were near water.
nuvellity: (03)

[personal profile] nuvellity 2021-01-23 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Wait, is interesting a good thing or a bad thing? And does she want to hear Linhardt's analysis on her traits? Perhaps not. Besides, there's talk about licking to be had. ]

It depends on several factors, including location, body part, partner and mood. [ Says in a matter-of-fact manner, because this is research, not gossip about previous and current intimate partners. ] I do have questions about the supposed preference of certain nobles for bootlicking? That I have never understood.

And rest assured that I have no intention of drowning you or making you dive for anything. [ What kind of kink is diving even? Every day you learn something new in sex island. ]

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-01-24 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose. I still think that it's the least interesting mouth-based activity available. It offers rather less stimulation than kissing, sucking, or biting does, for example.

[In Linhardt's language, 'interesting' definitely is a positive descriptor. He matches Constance's tone, also treating the questions as ones of research. It's refreshing.]

Bootlicking? I imagine it's due to some sort of intermingling of power and desire. I have had people make some very strange assumptions about how I should be treated due to my father's position and my proximity to Edelgard, including in intimate situations.

[Now his tone is somewhere between dismissive and confused. In some ways, despite his disregard for status, Linhardt is still insulated by his own. He does not understand the lengths people would go to in order to be in his position: To be well-regarded enough to not only able to snap at Edelgard, but to see her vulnerable and to know that if he felt it was worth the energy to speak up about something he would immediately be listened to. He genuinely only sees Edelgard as Edelgard.]
nuvellity: (03)

[personal profile] nuvellity 2021-01-24 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Did Linhardt just come out and say that he's more experienced than Constance was when she first arrived in this island? It shouldn't be a surprise, she had to protect the Crest of Noa from being passed on after all. But it's just a little unfair that he had that freedom.

That said, the question on whether or not she should personally help Linhardt with his symptoms was answered as soon as he mentioned his father. Nothing controls Constance's inhibitions like the mention of the people involved with the fall of House Nuvelle. ]

Far be it for me to judge what powerful people do in the privacy of their bed chambers in order to find release [ because wouldn't that make her a hypocrite... also, she will still judge ] but boots do not taste well, at all. [ Ask her about her licorice boots spell. ]

Is the urge to lick someone subsiding, or is it getting worse for you? [ She is against personally getting licked by the tall green spellcaster, that doesn't mean that she isn't going to try and find some way to help. ]

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-01-24 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Now he's thinking of licking boots, and Linhardt has to agree with Constance, wrinkling his nose at the thought.]

Yes, that sounds highly unpleasant. I prefer my partners to enjoy themselves.

[Of course, Linhardt being Linhardt, he sees no issue admitting that he's had bed partners. It's far less damning a thing than killing, after all.]

It would be another matter if boots tasted nice, but I can't think of a case where that would be true. Maybe if they were made of chocolate. Or sorbet.

[ Constance asks a good question, which Linhardt appreciates. Usually he's the only one asking these things and people give him those looks. The 'Linhardt is being strange' look. He doesn't care, but it prevents open inquiry. He considers the question seriously, looking Constance over while paying close attention to his mental reaction.

He sighs and shakes his head.]

Worse. I'm going to sit with this spell- if it is a spell- and see how strong it gets. Should it become unbearable, I will go sleep it off. If that does not fix it, I will find Ferdinand. He interrupted a most wonderful nap by telling me Edelgard was here.

[He's a bit petty. Just a bit.]

[personal profile] nuvellity 2021-01-26 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[ What's that? An opportunity to brag about one's accomplishments? Thank you, Constance will take it and use it. ]

Ahahaha! You are in luck, I have developed a spell that will turn your boots into licorice if you find yourself in the position of having to lick someone's boots.

[ Gloating aside, there's another reason why Constance doesn't give Linhardt any of those looks. She has been roommates with Hapi long enough to know that there are just some people who can not be shamed into doing something they don't like. Strong-armed, maybe. Shamed? No. She's almost a little jealous of their ability to just not care about public perception.

She grimaces when she hears Ferdinand's name. ]

I see. Ferdinand does have a knack for welcoming people to this island. [ When he first found her sleeping in the stables he took her back to the base, served her tea, and the next thing she knew they were greeting the dawn together. ] Do let me know if you require assistance when it comes to [ licking him ] dealing with him.

I'm so sorry, Constance.

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-01-26 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lin isn't objecting; he likes learning, and he has a particular interest in magic. In fact, that's astonishing! Constance can transform objects? He's distracted enough from the licking question to reach down and untie his own boots, stepping out of them.]

Please show me.

[He says please!]

Can you do this on other objects? Does it matter what the boots are made of? What about turning boots into a different substance? Can you choose the flavor of licorice? Does it have to be an existing flavor or could you make it any flavor?

[Linhardt sees her grimace, but Ferdinand (and Constance's relationship with him) is a far less interesting discussion topic than this spell.]

Ferdinand is insecure and feels the need to be the first to know everything. He is exhausting. Did you learn that spell here? Have you learned any other spells since arriving?
nuvellity: (01)

never apologize for science

[personal profile] nuvellity 2021-01-29 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
[ Constance nods at his accurate assessment of Ferdinand's character, but enough of that. There's magic to be hand. ]

I developed it in the Abyss, and I can only turn leather boots into black licorice for now. If you want to learn other spells here, you should approach the horned men or the long-haired people in the flowing robes. [ She picks up Linhardt's boot and turns it around in her hands, scrutinizing it. ]

This is a different material from what I used [ It's more expensive, and Constance would consider this a waste if she had bought the boot herself. But she didn't, and this is a chance for her to show off so of course she'll take it!

She then hold the boot between her hands and starts her spell. In her mind she's rearranging the components of leather to turn into licorice. After a long moment of concentration, and a bunch of flashy symbols, she succeeds. ]

Ahahahaha! Behold! A delicious confection, made from ordinary footwear. [ But she failed to take into consideration the specific type of leather the boot was made of, and so it starts oozing slowly in her hands. ]

SCIENCE FRIENDS

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-01-29 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[That is certainly a transformation. Though normally licorice doesn't ooze, but Linhardt is sure that Constance is working on refining the spell. He takes the edible boot, wrinkling his nose at the stickiness of the ooze but, ignoring his discomfort in the name of discovery, he swipes a finger through the ooze and pops it into his mouth, sucking off the sweet flavor. Sugar. That is certainly edible. If sticky.]

Remarkable. I'm still making my way through the Shadow Library; Edelgard and the others keep demanding my time. I haven't been able to find any sort of catalog; do you know if one exists?

[Constance is far more familiar with Abyss than Linhardt, and if she spends time in the library as well, she may know more than he does. This is the easiest conversation Linhardt has had in some time; he had been certain that flurry of questions was going to be offputting, but Constance doesn't seem to mind. There is still a portion of his brain screaming that it would be an excellent idea to lick and nibble under her earlobe, but it's absolutely buried under the rare joy of finding someone else whose mind even slightly resembles his own.]

If you can turn my boot back, you should. If you can't, then you can keep the other one for practice.

[It isn't like he has much use for a single boot. It hasn't occurred to Linhardt that he won't be able to easily find replacements; he's never had a problem acquiring shoes before in his life so being shoeless is a problem completely outside of Linhardt's worldview for the moment.]

research associates!

[personal profile] nuvellity 2021-02-01 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's not supposed to ooze! This is a complete failure! Don't put it in your mouth-- he put it in his mouth. It should be safe, Constance is mostly concerned about the taste. And he still found it remarkable, which is a plus. ]

You will have to ask Seteth about that. He's the one in charge of discarding all the books that found their way into our shelves. He's here too. [ Please bother Seteth, it will be amusing. And she shot herself in the foot in trying to get leverage from the Saint. ]

You should keep that boot. It will be easier to buy a replacement if you have something else to show for the size of your foot. [ Other than his actual foot. ] Clearly you can't borrow mine.

[ And speaking of sticky boots. ]

By the way, do you have anything I could use to wipe my hands? [ Preferably a handkerchief? ]

Constance needs to invent lab safety and make Linhardt take that class

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-02-02 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Ugh. Seteth. He isn't that fond of Seteth. Wait. Linhardt looks at Constance in open surprise. Seteth is dead. Seteth can't be here.]

How is Seteth here? He's dead.

[Tact is not Linhardt's forte, especially when he's trying to keep up with a barrage of information. Like that he is on a sex island with dead people. There is no part of that sentence that makes any sense at all. He shakes his head; he can't make sense of it in the least.]

Of course I can't borrow your boots. Our feet are different sizes.

[Yes, that's clearly the issue here, Linhardt. He reaches into his coat and produces a silk handkerchief with the von Hevring coat of arms embroidered on it and passes it over to Constance before removing another one for himself and starting to remove the sticky residue.]

This type of wholesale transformation is really quite impressive. Which school of magic did you use as a base?
nuvellity: (05)

[personal profile] nuvellity 2021-02-02 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Oh she dislikes this topic so much, but it might be interesting to someone like Linhardt who has all the time in the world to study the esoteric. ]

We seem to have been taken from different points in our lives. I was in the middle of preparations for what would likely become our last battle with Dimitri's forces. Ferdinand is certain that we have defeated them and that I have restored my home. Neither Ashe nor Hilda remember me. And Lorenz had slanderous words to say about the Ashen Wolves allying ourselves with the Empire instead of the Alliance like he remembers.

[ This is a problem for people who have a lot of free time, and no pressing obligations to restore an entire town.

Constance will gladly ignore the von Hevring coat of arms as she wipes her hands. She might apologize for this in the future. ]

What school of magic? Ahahahahaha! [ Is "spite and gloating" a school of magic? She was fueled by the need to prove Yuri wrong and that's why this useless spell exists. ] This is a bespoke spell of my own design!

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-02-03 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[It is interesting to Linhardt. He'd known Ferdinand was from a different time, but from what Constance is telling him, it seems as though there are different Fodlans as well? What a fascinating headache. If you hopped back and then forward, could that be possible? Traveling time like a road system.

Linhardt is completely lost in thought until Constance's laugh pierces through the intellectual fog and he can't help but wince. Sothis, could her laugh be any louder. Yes, Constance, you're talented. He'd already said that.]

Yes, but you had to have used some sort of existing theoretical or practical knowledge to build it. I wasn't doubting that it was your spell...
nuvellity: (03)

[personal profile] nuvellity 2021-02-04 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Yes, he said she's talented. She would like to hear it again. Maybe someday the message will get through the other Constance too. ]

I read something from the Shadow Library, but most of the pages were burnt [ thanks Seteth ] and I can't properly credit the person who came up with the study. Perhaps I learned some basics from my parents as well. I shall let you know when I remember.

( canon was vague ffff )

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-02-04 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Linhardt, of course, was not subject to half the confidence-eroding events Constance was and therefore does not understand her desire for validation. Regardless, he nods at her answer, accepting it. He frequently forgets where he encountered ideas.]

I understand. Yes, please do let me know. And if you have invented any more spells, I would be most interested in seeing them.

OOC: Vagueness? In my FE3H? It's more likely than you think.
