TDM 009: I'M IN LIKE WITH YOU

TDM 009: I'M IN LIKE WITH YOU

00. Arrival

This time, you come out of the water, the Nameless Island's own inherent energy drawing people in. It's like being suspended between realities and abruptly pushed from behind through a rift in dimensions. It may make you sick, or that might be the motion of the ocean, lifting you to the surface and carrying you to shore.

Waterlogged and covered in sand, new arrivals will be greeted by robots who welcome them with towels and bracelet devices. The A5 card is already loaded up. Feel free to explore the Island, though there isn’t much to see. Most of the buildings are abandoned and in dire need of repair, and beyond the city lingers a thick fog that obscures much of the wilderness from view. Wander too far into this fog, and you will find yourself mysteriously looping back to where you began, your memories of what you were doing and how you got there erased.

With that in mind, it may be wise to stake your claim on a rundown apartment, a tent on the beach, or a bed in the “comfortable” new barracks. Your inventory will be found a day later, wrapped up haphazardly and delivered to each person's makeshift home.

I. STARGAZER

On the first night that new arrivals wash ashore, the moon rises. It's full and beautiful and surrounded by stars.

The robots quickly bring old, dusty telescopes out of storage and line them up on the beach to help people get a truly spectacular view.

"Look to the heavens! Behold, the chicken, the cat, the owl, the donkey!"

It's... the cock, the pussy, the hooters, and the ass. For the rest of the night, characters will become fixated on the specific asset associated with the constellation they've gotten an eyeful of.

Whether this leads to some body worship or just casual appreciation is up to you.

You can learn about the stars and constellations later this month in some of the rare, non-pornographic books in the library. (More info will go up soon, so please be patient!)

II. STIMULATING CONVERSATION

An ancient courting ritual has been announced! It involves the give-and-take of candy hearts with slogans printed on them. Of course, since these hearts are being manufactured by robots, their sense of taste is a little... off? Or perhaps off-putting?

"You'll do."
"5/10."
"Acceptable."
"Sloppy Seconds."

Receiving a negative heart makes one feel insecure, jealous, and submissive.

"Be mine."
"Nicest ass."
"Swell bulge."
"They're good lays, Bront."

Receiving a positive heart will make one feel confident, boastful, and dominant.

Your friendly neighborhood 'bots will give them out to anyone who asks - and maybe even those who don't.

III. Eat Or Dare

The robots have set up a stall by the beach with a banner that reads: Eat Or Dare. They have procured bigger candy hearts than ever before -- fist-sized and larger -- with actions written on them instead of derogatory slogans.

"Take a dive."
"Lick me."
"Get handsy."

The name of the game is to follow the instructions or forfeit the challenge by making the evidence disappear into your mouth. Delicious!

Those who eat the candy hearts will feel themselves getting giddy and unreasonably invested in the love affairs of others. They will feel compelled to play matchmaker to spread the cheer.

[That is certainly a transformation. Though normally licorice doesn't ooze, but Linhardt is sure that Constance is working on refining the spell. He takes the edible boot, wrinkling his nose at the stickiness of the ooze but, ignoring his discomfort in the name of discovery, he swipes a finger through the ooze and pops it into his mouth, sucking off the sweet flavor. Sugar. That is certainly edible. If sticky.]

Remarkable. I'm still making my way through the Shadow Library; Edelgard and the others keep demanding my time. I haven't been able to find any sort of catalog; do you know if one exists?

[Constance is far more familiar with Abyss than Linhardt, and if she spends time in the library as well, she may know more than he does. This is the easiest conversation Linhardt has had in some time; he had been certain that flurry of questions was going to be offputting, but Constance doesn't seem to mind. There is still a portion of his brain screaming that it would be an excellent idea to lick and nibble under her earlobe, but it's absolutely buried under the rare joy of finding someone else whose mind even slightly resembles his own.]

If you can turn my boot back, you should. If you can't, then you can keep the other one for practice.

[It isn't like he has much use for a single boot. It hasn't occurred to Linhardt that he won't be able to easily find replacements; he's never had a problem acquiring shoes before in his life so being shoeless is a problem completely outside of Linhardt's worldview for the moment.]

[ It's not supposed to ooze! This is a complete failure! Don't put it in your mouth-- he put it in his mouth. It should be safe, Constance is mostly concerned about the taste. And he still found it remarkable, which is a plus. ]

You will have to ask Seteth about that. He's the one in charge of discarding all the books that found their way into our shelves. He's here too. [ Please bother Seteth, it will be amusing. And she shot herself in the foot in trying to get leverage from the Saint. ]

You should keep that boot. It will be easier to buy a replacement if you have something else to show for the size of your foot. [ Other than his actual foot. ] Clearly you can't borrow mine.

[ And speaking of sticky boots. ]

By the way, do you have anything I could use to wipe my hands? [ Preferably a handkerchief? ]

Constance needs to invent lab safety and make Linhardt take that class

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-02-02 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Ugh. Seteth. He isn't that fond of Seteth. Wait. Linhardt looks at Constance in open surprise. Seteth is dead. Seteth can't be here.]

How is Seteth here? He's dead.

[Tact is not Linhardt's forte, especially when he's trying to keep up with a barrage of information. Like that he is on a sex island with dead people. There is no part of that sentence that makes any sense at all. He shakes his head; he can't make sense of it in the least.]

Of course I can't borrow your boots. Our feet are different sizes.

[Yes, that's clearly the issue here, Linhardt. He reaches into his coat and produces a silk handkerchief with the von Hevring coat of arms embroidered on it and passes it over to Constance before removing another one for himself and starting to remove the sticky residue.]

This type of wholesale transformation is really quite impressive. Which school of magic did you use as a base?

[ Oh she dislikes this topic so much, but it might be interesting to someone like Linhardt who has all the time in the world to study the esoteric. ]

We seem to have been taken from different points in our lives. I was in the middle of preparations for what would likely become our last battle with Dimitri's forces. Ferdinand is certain that we have defeated them and that I have restored my home. Neither Ashe nor Hilda remember me. And Lorenz had slanderous words to say about the Ashen Wolves allying ourselves with the Empire instead of the Alliance like he remembers.

[ This is a problem for people who have a lot of free time, and no pressing obligations to restore an entire town.

Constance will gladly ignore the von Hevring coat of arms as she wipes her hands. She might apologize for this in the future. ]

What school of magic? Ahahahahaha! [ Is "spite and gloating" a school of magic? She was fueled by the need to prove Yuri wrong and that's why this useless spell exists. ] This is a bespoke spell of my own design!

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-02-03 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[It is interesting to Linhardt. He'd known Ferdinand was from a different time, but from what Constance is telling him, it seems as though there are different Fodlans as well? What a fascinating headache. If you hopped back and then forward, could that be possible? Traveling time like a road system.

Linhardt is completely lost in thought until Constance's laugh pierces through the intellectual fog and he can't help but wince. Sothis, could her laugh be any louder. Yes, Constance, you're talented. He'd already said that.]

Yes, but you had to have used some sort of existing theoretical or practical knowledge to build it. I wasn't doubting that it was your spell...

[ Yes, he said she's talented. She would like to hear it again. Maybe someday the message will get through the other Constance too. ]

I read something from the Shadow Library, but most of the pages were burnt [ thanks Seteth ] and I can't properly credit the person who came up with the study. Perhaps I learned some basics from my parents as well. I shall let you know when I remember.

( canon was vague ffff )

[personal profile] idratherbeasleep 2021-02-04 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Linhardt, of course, was not subject to half the confidence-eroding events Constance was and therefore does not understand her desire for validation. Regardless, he nods at her answer, accepting it. He frequently forgets where he encountered ideas.]

I understand. Yes, please do let me know. And if you have invented any more spells, I would be most interested in seeing them.

OOC: Vagueness? In my FE3H? It's more likely than you think.
