TDM 002: IF FOUND PLEASE RETURN TO

( 1 ) Around mid-morning, a message from the Augur appears on bracelets all across the city. "New organisms discovered. Domestication in progress."

The wark of a chocobo rises up from the outskirts of the city. Several more join in, forming a charming chorus. And, strangely, this is when new arrivals begin to show up.

Beamed in one at a time, scanned en masse, they are processed just as the first wave was. There's one major difference: whereas the old guard was given their bracelets and ushered into the City, the new folks are also given... collars.

Buckled, snapped, or otherwise fastened around their necks, a variety of colorful collars with some rather unusual novelty pet tags. (These are just a few suggestions. The typical “If found, please return to ____” is also very much acceptable.)

"You are new organisms. Domestication in progress. Compatible Eros energy will complete domestication."

No matter how hard they try, characters cannot take the collars off by themselves. They need a partner's help - but not just anyone will do. It very well might be the first person they find, or it might take several tries.

The robots grow bolder as the day grows on, targeting characters who aren't new, as well.

"Y̶o̶u̴ ̸a̷r̸e̷ ̵o̵r̵g̶a̴n̷i̷s̶m̸s̶.̶ ̶D̷o̶m̴e̴s̶t̶i̶c̵a̸t̶i̸o̴n̸ ̷i̵n̸ ̴p̸r̶o̵g̷r̵e̷s̵s̷."

Their antics die down by nightfall, but for the next day or two, the occasional malfunctioning 'bot may accost someone in the street, so stay on your toes!

( 2 ) An abandoned racetrack lights up the night. That's right: place your bets, folks, because these birds are about to run around a track while robots sell synthetic, overpriced aphro-popcorn.

...Did you say priced?

That’s right! If you participated in the orgy earlier this month, you'll find you have a stash of credits accessible in your app.

You've fucked money back into the world, so why not waste it?

(Opportunities to earn credits will come up periodically and won't always be sexual in nature, so don't worry if your character wouldn't have any yet.)

And if you don't have credits to bet with, why not get creative?

[ giving him a pointed look, reno lets zack take back his sword. ]

No. [ the most aggrieved sigh. ] It'd just make it easier to stomach.

[ shoving his left hand into the pocket of his pants, he gives a little shrug of his shoulders. ]

It was part of the arrival package. Some sick shit about domestication. [ hooking his finger into the pink neckband, he tugs at it irritably. ] What is this, like pet play? Bullshit. [ he practically spits the word out. ] I'm guessin' they want me to fuck it off since that's the theme of this place, ain't it?

[back to business as usual now, then. the sword is strapped at his back, his hands at his hips, and reno's taking on a lackadaisical posture that is quite on point with the turks. it's good to know that he doesn't have to explain how this whole place works; reno seems smart enough to get the idea.]

You might not be wrong.

[he extends his hand and shows reno the bracelet on his wrist.]

We get bingo cards with things to do and we get stuff in return for it.

[ he might not have been giving the augur his full attention, but reno caught the general gist of what it was trying to tell him. ]

Yea, I took a look at mine. [ he shows him the device clasped around his own wrist. ] How many have you checked off already, SOLDIER boy?

Name's Zack. I'm not SOLDIER anymore.

[because he doesn't like how reno calls him 'SOLDIER boy,' especially since he's decided to quit from working with shinra. a choice he made before shinra decided to take him down. what are the chances reno takes what zack says to heart, though? he will probably find out in a few minutes.]

[arm back and keeping it at his hip, he looks away for a moment, doing mental maths.]

...about five, or so? Maybe seven.

[ sorry, zachary. reno ain't gonna take that to heart.

but he can drop it for now, especially since he's much more interested in the number he's been given. ]

Five to seven, eh? Lookit you go, yo! [ he moves a little closer to him. ] Hey, [ he angles his head at him, a smirk teasing his lips. ] feel like checking off one more? [ he might have just decided zack is the perfect piece of meat to help him resolve his little collar problem. ]

[that's a change of pace zack wasn't quite expecting, but perhaps he should have seen it coming. reno was way too interested and too easygoing about the whole situation to really give the impression that he would shy away from what they were expected to do.]

[he cocks an eyebrow in return]

A few minutes ago you were sure I was going to 'fucking slit your throat, yo,' and now you wanna take a pick at my card?

[he respects the hustle.]

[ he isn't exactly known for his chastity. casual sex is something reno does on his spare time. it's a little annoying that erku has turned it into a bit of a chore, but he doesn't have enough stubborn ass pride to refuse to participate on principles alone.

do whatever it takes to adapt and survive aka don't be a fucking fool.

besides, fucking to make an earning or achieve a goal ain't the worst thing he's had to do in his life. this is practically child's play for him. ]

If you wanted to slit my throat, you would have made a move by now. [ s h r u g ] So, what do ya got on there? [ show him your card, first class. ]

[like zack had said, no grudges on his skin, especially not on the turks who didn't load the guns of the infantrymen who gunned him down. he's a little sorry that their conversation has shifted so quickly what's on his card, and ways to get rid of the collar, because—truth be told—the biggest reason he approached reno at first was out of curiosity.]

[maybe he can bargain his way into skewing the conversation to go his way, though.]

[he extends his arm again after pushing through the tabs and sliding through. have at the card, reno.]

[uh] —how's Tseng?

[ guess zack is more even-tempered than most, which is nothing short of a good thing for him. he honestly isn't looking for a fight with every SOLDIER he meets, especially when he is technically now off the clock.

peering at the screen, his eyes look over the list. seems like zachary is two short from a full bingo. ]

Tseng? [ his brows furrow as he glances over at him. why does he have to bring him up right now? jeez... ] He's the same as ever. [ a beat and then: ] Why? You miss him or somethin'?

He... [how to explain] was looking after someone for me, and we were friends, or something.

[that relationship with tseng was always a little confusing, but zack trusted the man, considered him someone close, to an extent. much like cissnei. it seems a little silly to think about now, considering he isn't technically supposed to be alive at all.]

You're obviously from after I bit the dust. [time shenanigans, vincent had said.] I'm just curious.

[his eyes remain steady on reno, observing the man, not really caring how easy he is to read otherwise.]

[ 'friends or something' with tseng. guess that's one way to put it. ]

Look, [ he sets his hand on the ex-SOLDIER's shoulder. ] it's been almost a year. He doesn't talk about it. I don't pry. [ whatever relationship they had with each other is none of his business. he isn't in the habit of prying into other people's personal affairs. ]

So, [ he taps his finger on the word next to the endurance card. ] you in or what?

[he doesn't talk about it.]

[he wishes he could know more. perhaps, in time, he can wrench out an actual conversation out of reno—when he's not jumping out of his skin to get rid of the collar around his neck. blue eyes cast again towards the card, towards the square reno is pointing at. he looks at him with a questioning look, turning off the bracelet entirely.]

Can't say I've ever tried that before. [no semblance of embarrassment on his expression, but he looks determined enough.] You know how?

[ does he know how? that's a fucking cute question, ain't it? ]

Of course I know how. Wouldn't have suggested it otherwise. [ he looks extremely amused. ] But since you don't, then I'll take the lead, yo. [ scanning the area they're in, he nods toward a particularly dark and narrow alley a few feet away. ]

Let's take this somewhere a little more private.

[ if fucking is the only way to get this thing off of him, then why not with a semi-familiar face? especially one who is apparently 'friends' with tseng. ]

I don't mind being your first. [ a light tease as he starts down the sidewalk with a looong stretch of his arm. ]

It almost sounds like you were made for this place.

[no offense, reno, buddy, but there's an eagerness to this whole setup that he hadn't found in others just yet. he stuffs hands in his pockets and following along. he casts his eyes to the side, an amused chortle at the mention of "being his first," like that's something to be proud about.]

[before he follows reno all the way to his chosen place for 'privacy,' zack stops him and motions towards a nearby robot.]

Don't you need stuff for that? They'll give it to you.

The only place I'm made for ain't here, Zachary.

[ as easygoing and lackadaisical as he might outwardly appear, reno isn't exactly enthusiastic about the nameless city and its perverse rules. he's just doing what he has to, ok? it's always been his approach to life: do what ya gotta in order to live another day. simple as that.

but if 'eager' is the general impression he's giving off, then that's fine by him. he never cared for a shiny rep anyway. ]

'Stuff'? [ he slows his steps as he glances back at him incredulously. ] You mean this? [ he fishes out a small square from his pocket. ] Or did ya mean lube?

[ be more specific here. ]

Zachary?

[he mutters, parroting the other, catching on to the redhead talking and pulling out condoms from his pocket. he catches a glance at him and then back towards the robot. why is he surprised that he comes prepared?]

Unless you got some in your pockets too, then yeah.

[should he go to the robot at all?]

[ a guy should always be prepared, zachary.

but he didn't come that prepared. ]

No lube. [ he glances over at the robot skeptically. ] So if the sexbot can provide, then I guess there's no harm in askin'.

[ brb asking a robotic fiend if he can have some lube and a moment later: ] Got it. [ he holds up a small bottle. ] Let's go, yo.

[ he doesn't have all day here. ]

[to zack, this feels a little weird, because of how transactional it all feels. he follows behind reno as he goes over to the robot, keeping his distance because it sure is, also, brandishing more colorful collars. the lube obtained, he resumes keeping in step with the redhead towards the sketchy alleyway, a little in disbelief of himself.]

[but—he thinks—if he gets on reno's good side, getting him to talk to him about other things might come easier, later down the line.]

Reno, right?

[...he just wants to make sure...]

So, how do you want to go about it?

[ reno likes his fucks to be squeaky clean of complications, so maybe what they're doing might lack a certain romanticism to it, but it isn't like he can (or even wants to) wine and dine the former SOLDIER first.

turning into the alleyway, he leads them towards the back where there is less chance of a passerby spotting them. ]

Yea, Reno. [ he pops open the cap to the bottle. ] I can jerk you off or you can take care of it yourself while you watch me prep. Whatever gets you off. Either way, I need you hard.

[ a beat and then: ] Just don't expect me to get down on my knees and blow ya. [ former or current, zack's still a SOLDIER boy. ]

[funny how that rivalry between turks and SOLDIER persists. it's probably still incredibly real for reno, but zack can't say he feels much of anything towards it, anymore. he does remove the buster sword from his back, setting it carefully against the wall opposite them before he turns back to reno.]

I can take care of myself.

[some belt unbuckling needs taking place... so he works on that, but not before removing his gloves and pocketing them. hands he can wash, gloves not as easily.]

You're gonna need help?

[ good boy. ]

Nah. [ he shakes his head as he unzips his own pants and begins tugging it down along with the boxer briefs beneath. ] I've got this.

[ as the garments pool around his ankles, reno removes his gloves and pockets them away as well before squirting some of the lubricant onto his right hand, coating his fingers with the cool substance. truthfully, he hasn't been on the receiving end for a while, so he kiiinda trusts himself more than he does zack to get him ready. (no offense, zachary, but you said it yourself. never done it before, right?)

turning around, he braces one hand against the brick wall. he hates to admit it, but he is starting to feel a little self-conscious now. fuck it. they're already here, so there's no backing down from this. spreading his legs, reno arches his back slightly as he reaches back with his right hand and, with a quiet breath, he slowly starts to ease one wet finger inside of him.

his eyes fall shut as he tries to keep himself from tensing too much. it never does stop feeling intrusive, no matter how familiar the sensation is. he is pretty thankful his face can't be seen right now, so at least that's some nonsense reassurance for himself to hold onto. he really hopes this is all worth it.

—and he really hopes SOLDIER boy can get it up. otherwise, he... honestly doesn't wanna think about it.

and with that less than comforting thought, reno begins to move his finger, attempting to ease away the tightness. ]

[what is he doing here? zack can't help but wonder, watching and then averting his gaze as reno turns around against the brick wall. maybe this place has really started getting to him, normalizing such a thing. it's what everyone is doing—and it's how they keep getting things to make it by, right? besides, he's helping a 'friend' of sorts out.]

[small blessings come in reno's shirt and suit jacket reaching low enough that zack doesn't feel like he's looking at too much. perhaps silly to think, considering, but turning away slightly he continues to unbuckle his belts and zip down his trousers. should he think about something?]

[hmm...]

[there's enough that happened in the past few weeks to give zack fuel for enough wet dreams, and just glossing over the memories of them has him stirring as he grabs himself in his hand, drawing a shaky breath as he closes his eyes.]

—do you do this often?

[how about some casual conversation.]

[ what are they both doing here? reno would love to have that question answered too. but he ain't gonna torture himself by thinking too deeply about his current choices in life. he can deal with it after he's finally free of this damn collar.

it comes as a bit of relief when he hears movement from zack. an optimistic sign that the SOLDIER isn't gonna up and leave him — a pretty real possibility.

guiding another finger inside, he draws in a slow breath as he starts to thrust into himself more quickly. he can't be a wuss about this. the sooner he can get himself ready for zack; the closer he'll get to losing himself in the usual rhythm he sets for himself in these types of exchanges. ]

What? [ is... is he seriously trying to make conversation right now? for fuck's sake— ] No. [ a beat. ] I mean, I don't... go around spreadin' my ass in an alley every chance I get anyway. I like somewhere a bit more comfortable. [ a little more private. ]

[thanks for the visual, buddy.]

[and so, zack realizes that his trying to make conversation is not exactly resulting the way he wants it to. so, that's all he offers in terms of keeping the conversation going. mostly also because his hand's a little to dry to work himself properly hard. it feels wrong to bother reno again, for this, but zack extends his free hand over towards the redhead.]

Pass me the lube and a condom?

[he should have gotten his own.]

[ yw he does what he can. ]

You're not gettin' shy on me, are ya?

[ he ain't the one stretching himself out for the other here.

but maybe this is a little awkward, ain't it? if it's really zachary's first time, then he should be more considerate. of course that doesn't lessen the incredulity in his voice when he's suddenly asked to stop what he's doing in order to pass the lube. ]

Are you fuckin' serious? [ finally looking back at him, he creases his brows at the way the SOLDIER is currently angled away from him. shit. ] I'm a little busy here, so... if you want 'em, come get 'em. [ and with a bit of a sigh, he adds: ] You don't have to stand so far away from me, y'know. Come touch me a little if ya want.
