TDM 009: I'M IN LIKE WITH YOU

00. Arrival This time, you come out of the water, the Nameless Island's own inherent energy drawing people in. It's like being suspended between realities and abruptly pushed from behind through a rift in dimensions. It may make you sick, or that might be the motion of the ocean, lifting you to the surface and carrying you to shore. Waterlogged and covered in sand, new arrivals will be greeted by robots who welcome them with towels and bracelet devices. The A5 card is already loaded up. Feel free to explore the Island, though there isn’t much to see. Most of the buildings are abandoned and in dire need of repair, and beyond the city lingers a thick fog that obscures much of the wilderness from view. Wander too far into this fog, and you will find yourself mysteriously looping back to where you began, your memories of what you were doing and how you got there erased. With that in mind, it may be wise to stake your claim on a rundown apartment, a tent on the beach, or a bed in the “comfortable” new barracks. Your inventory will be found a day later, wrapped up haphazardly and delivered to each person's makeshift home. ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● I. STARGAZER On the first night that new arrivals wash ashore, the moon rises. It's full and beautiful and surrounded by stars. The robots quickly bring old, dusty telescopes out of storage and line them up on the beach to help people get a truly spectacular view. "Look to the heavens! Behold, the chicken, the cat, the owl, the donkey!" It's... the cock, the pussy, the hooters, and the ass. For the rest of the night, characters will become fixated on the specific asset associated with the constellation they've gotten an eyeful of. Whether this leads to some body worship or just casual appreciation is up to you. STIMULATING CONVERSATION An ancient courting ritual has been announced! It involves the give-and-take of candy hearts with slogans printed on them. Of course, since these hearts are being manufactured by robots, their sense of taste is a little... off? Or perhaps off-putting? "You'll do." "5/10." "Acceptable." "Sloppy Seconds." Receiving a negative heart makes one feel insecure, jealous, and submissive. "Be mine." "Nicest ass." "Swell bulge." "They're good lays, Bront." Receiving a positive heart will make one feel confident, boastful, and dominant. Your friendly neighborhood 'bots will give them out to anyone who asks - and maybe even those who don't. ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● III. Eat Or Dare The robots have set up a stall by the beach with a banner that reads: Eat Or Dare. They have procured bigger candy hearts than ever before -- fist-sized and larger -- with actions written on them instead of derogatory slogans. "Take a dive." "Lick me." "Get handsy." The name of the game is to follow the instructions or forfeit the challenge by making the evidence disappear into your mouth. Delicious! Those who eat the candy hearts will feel themselves getting giddy and unreasonably invested in the love affairs of others. Yeah, he's pretty impressive.

[ all of his crew is incredibly impressive — luffy is good at that; he knows what potential looks like. still, some members of their crew get that compliment more easily than others do. like hell would he say a kind word to the cook's face. ]

The East Blue? Well, it's... you know, from here, it's sort of like... [ time for zoro's terrible sense of direction to make an appearance. this is sooner than he'd thought. trying to figure out east from where they're standing has him looking left, than right, than left again. ] It's... over there.

[ the direction he points in might be east. who's going to tell him it's not? ]

[ Certainly not Chung Myung, who hasn't even attempted to figure out the cardinal directions since touching down on the beach. He hadn't been certain about what this world he landed on was, but he'd been a little overly quick to accept he was not just going to be able to waltz back the way he came.

He had no intention of going back anyway.

Still, he follows Zoro's gesture, an uncertain look on his face even as he looks to the "east". ]

[ He gives Zoro an uncertain smile at that one. ]

[ don't challenge him this; they both know he has no idea.

no, he's not going to admit that. he's spent enough time around their navigator to know something about finding directions based on the position of the sky... how much of it actually stuck with him is another question. ]

What do you mean is it?! If I said that's east, then it's east! The East Blue lies in that direction!

But if you don't know that much, you're clearly not a native. What are you, then?

[ nothing about him says pirate, but pirates come in all shapes in sizes. he's not putting anything past him. ]

[ Well, if Chung Myung had his doubts before, the defensiveness certainly tips Zoro's hand. He chuckles in disbelief, even as he nods his head in agreement. ]

Ahhhh. I see. It's that way.

[ There's nothing in his tone to suggest he believes that direction is east. ]

I'm not from there though. Originally I came from Goguryeo.

[ Which he doesn't elaborate on for now, but he's 99% certain this man is about as unfamiliar with his long gone country as he is with the East Blue. ]

You come here from Goguryeo alone, or are you looking for someone, too?

[ Absolutely nothing at all, though he does possess a basic sense of direction. If this world works the same way his does he should be able to figure it out by the sun.

The question has him pausing though, the smile dropping to something a little sadder looking. ]

Hmm... No, I think at this point I'm done looking for anyone else.

[ His gaze flits off to the side as he starts a slow scan of the land around them. ]

Though I didn't exactly mean to come here.

Yeah, I don't think anyone means to come to a deserted island. Not that this place is deserted. It's sort of somewhere in between. Maybe a colony is a better way to put it.

( tents, shacks, half-naked people roaming around... this place has the makings of a cult, if zoro is being entirely honest. the sooner he can leave, the better. )

Still, it probably isn't safe to be on your own. I don't trust anything about this place. ( he pauses. ) I'm Zoro, by the way.

You figure out anything about these bracelets?

[ A colony made up of people who never intended to come here. He has a lot of questions about this place, and most of what has been answered was not done so anywhere close to his satisfaction so far.

Then again, Chung Myung is the last person in a huge rush to return to what he was doing before.

He'll take a look out across the very unassuming looking tents, wondering just how unsafe this really is. ]

[ He holds up his own wrist, and touches the bracelet to bring up a projected screen. ]
