TDM 009: I'M IN LIKE WITH YOU

TDM 009: I'M IN LIKE WITH YOU

00. Arrival

This time, you come out of the water, the Nameless Island's own inherent energy drawing people in. It's like being suspended between realities and abruptly pushed from behind through a rift in dimensions. It may make you sick, or that might be the motion of the ocean, lifting you to the surface and carrying you to shore.

Waterlogged and covered in sand, new arrivals will be greeted by robots who welcome them with towels and bracelet devices. The A5 card is already loaded up. Feel free to explore the Island, though there isn’t much to see. Most of the buildings are abandoned and in dire need of repair, and beyond the city lingers a thick fog that obscures much of the wilderness from view. Wander too far into this fog, and you will find yourself mysteriously looping back to where you began, your memories of what you were doing and how you got there erased.

With that in mind, it may be wise to stake your claim on a rundown apartment, a tent on the beach, or a bed in the “comfortable” new barracks. Your inventory will be found a day later, wrapped up haphazardly and delivered to each person's makeshift home.

I. STARGAZER

On the first night that new arrivals wash ashore, the moon rises. It's full and beautiful and surrounded by stars.

The robots quickly bring old, dusty telescopes out of storage and line them up on the beach to help people get a truly spectacular view.

"Look to the heavens! Behold, the chicken, the cat, the owl, the donkey!"

It's... the cock, the pussy, the hooters, and the ass. For the rest of the night, characters will become fixated on the specific asset associated with the constellation they've gotten an eyeful of.

Whether this leads to some body worship or just casual appreciation is up to you.

You can learn about the stars and constellations later this month in some of the rare, non-pornographic books in the library. (More info will go up soon, so please be patient!)

II. STIMULATING CONVERSATION

An ancient courting ritual has been announced! It involves the give-and-take of candy hearts with slogans printed on them. Of course, since these hearts are being manufactured by robots, their sense of taste is a little... off? Or perhaps off-putting?

"You'll do."
"5/10."
"Acceptable."
"Sloppy Seconds."

Receiving a negative heart makes one feel insecure, jealous, and submissive.

"Be mine."
"Nicest ass."
"Swell bulge."
"They're good lays, Bront."

Receiving a positive heart will make one feel confident, boastful, and dominant.

Your friendly neighborhood 'bots will give them out to anyone who asks - and maybe even those who don't.

III. Eat Or Dare

The robots have set up a stall by the beach with a banner that reads: Eat Or Dare. They have procured bigger candy hearts than ever before -- fist-sized and larger -- with actions written on them instead of derogatory slogans.

"Take a dive."
"Lick me."
"Get handsy."

The name of the game is to follow the instructions or forfeit the challenge by making the evidence disappear into your mouth. Delicious!

Those who eat the candy hearts will feel themselves getting giddy and unreasonably invested in the love affairs of others. They will feel compelled to play matchmaker to spread the cheer.

False. [ Duo throws it out with a rueful little glance, taking a moment to put his pants somewhere in the sun where they, hopefully, will not fall off. In the sun the black clothes should dry off quickly enough, though perhaps a bit more starchy than before. ]

I can feel it in my roots from the water. And if there's that much close to my scalp I don't wanna know how much there is in the other couple feet of it.

[He supposed he should feel lucky he has the shorter hair of
Shuuichi than the longer of his Youko form if that's the case. If any sand had gotten in to the red locks, he hadn't quite noticed and now lifts a chunk to check.]

I suppose I got lucky.

[Letting go of his hair, he considers Duo's a second.]

You have probably already done so, but if not, have you tried asking the greeters for fresh water to rinse your hair? Worst case, there's the ocean, even if isn't good for your hair it could get the sand out.

Their robots - they don't carry anything like that. [ He'd asked, of course, and had only been more irritated to be told what he already figured would be what he heard.

The suggestion of the sea water just brings a sigh as Duo mutters - ]

This is why I just stuck to space.

[Space? Okay... he isn't sure what that means, exactly, but for now will ignore it. There are more important things at this moment to think on. Which should honestly just be wandering and leaving everyone who looks as if they have little information to offer alone.

But he knows exactly what worth knowing others has, and he did just get something about how un-useful the robots are, so he will continue discussion for now.]

Unfortunately, you aren't there now, and your hair is tangled all to hell. Barring finding a useful plant here, salt water will at least remove sand and allow slightly easier detangling, if only because the strands will be wet.

Don't remind me.. [ Duo's hair hadn't been this much of a mess since he was a little kid out on the streets before the church. And, honestly... he hadn't missed this at all. He sighs, pushing a hand through his increasingly crunchy hair. ]

I don't imagine robots would bother to have shit like combs either.
afoxbyanyothername: (Explaining)

Doubtful. This place so far seems light on amenities.

[Of course, he's pretty new, but the beach itself is rather sparse and the greeters rather unhelpful. But he sort of winces at that hand pulling through hair.]

You're going to go bald doing that... if you want, I can try and help. At the least, I'm used to long hair.
braidedwonder: (poor run with smoke lungs & scarface)

[personal profile] braidedwonder 2021-01-23 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)

Guess we'll see over time, eh? Someone around here's gotta have to have come up with freakin' shampoo. [ At some point. Perhaps he's also too trusting, considering he doesn't know this place, but at the end he thinks most people all have the same basic level of creature comfort that they like to keep.

He hesitates obviously as the other man offers to help - typically, his hair is a one man show, and though Duo would prefer to keep it that way...

It also seems foolish, in this situation, to turn down the help. ]

Yeah, okay. Just, you know. Be careful.

Perhaps someone does, just not here on this beach.

[Kurama indicates the direction he was going in, even as he moves over to look at the tangles seriously.]

I'm heading up to look around if you'd care to join. But first... excuse me.

[The apology is said as Kurama takes a portion of Duo's hair, carefully working it with his fingers; a gentle widening of a tangled area using a few fingers, followed by slowly seperating strands from the now visible knot until that area seems untangled, before moving to the next.

And, likely to Duo's relief, Kurama seems to know how to do this with little rough pulling or tugging, though he may feel the occasional tickle from it. One section done, Kurama hands it to Duo for perusal.]

Want me to work the rest? It might take time, but I can do it.
