TDM 008: A WALK IN THE THEME PARK

TDM 008: A WALK IN THE THEME PARK

00. Arrival

This time, you come out of the water, the Nameless Island's own inherent energy drawing people in. It's like being suspended between realities and abruptly pushed from behind through a rift in dimensions. It may make you sick, or that might be the motion of the ocean, lifting you to the surface and carrying you to shore.

Waterlogged and covered in sand, new arrivals will be greeted by robots who welcome them with towels and bracelet devices. The A5 card is already loaded up. Feel free to explore the Island, though there isn’t much to see. Most of the buildings are abandoned and in dire need of repair, and beyond the city lingers a thick fog that obscures much of the wilderness from view. Wander too far into this fog, and you will find yourself mysteriously looping back to where you began, your memories of what you were doing and how you got there erased.

With that in mind, it may be wise to stake your claim on a rundown apartment, a tent on the beach, or a bed in the “comfortable” new barracks. Your inventory will be found a day later, wrapped up haphazardly and delivered to each person's makeshift home.

I. SIX FLAGELLANTS

Welcome, one and all, to a thrilling new location! Robots have worked tirelessly to build, from the ground up, what can only be recognizable as an amusement park. You are just in time for the grand opening of Six Flagellants: Great Advagtures!

The Ferris Wheel routinely stops when lovebirds reach the top, waiting for a kiss - or something more daring! - before it starts up again.

Robots warn of the scary Haunted House: a dark building with wall-to-wall creeps, and hot and cold running chills. Flickering ghosts roam the halls, and you may find an eerily realistic Headless Horseman -- who bids you, "Come closer. Give me head," while pointing to yours. Hey, get your mind out of the... Nevermind.

The Carousel is a two-story affair. Nude figures with familiar faces lounge about, waiting to be ridden, and closer inspection proves that they have the faces of your fellow islanders. Hop on your favorite person and take them for a spin!

There are even Bumper Cars, which have the interesting effect of making one feel more aroused with every bump and impact. (It's randomized each time, so don't try to guess based on car color!)

What should be a similar ride, the Teacups, has the robots' madness written all over it instead. They have misunderstood the gentle spin-cycles for dangerous, dizzying loop-the-loops across a wide track. Some would swear that the ride has a supernatural invocation for fear. Others are simply man enough to admit they're afraid.

Lastly, the Tunnel of Love is not what you expect. Although flavored lube and guides to cunnilingus are on each fleshy-log-shaped boat, the motion of the ocean is quite soothing, and there's a pleasant floral scent in the air that causes a light intoxication.

Don't forget to try the food! Similar to the Street Kiosks, there's a ton of faire food: cotton candy, corn dogs, and the like.

Mascot outfits are available and those who wear them will be rewarded generously with credits.

II. LIKE A FIREWORK

The next morning, you receive a message on your device: You are cordially invited to a celebration of skinship at the House of Worship. Please do not dress for the occasion.

If asked about it, the robots will confirm that is not a specific holiday, but a simple joyous event. If you pry, they may even say that the Old Ones often made merry and partook in the pleasures of the flesh - and so too should you.

For an hour, there will be food and drink - alcoholic and aphrodisiac. Then, at the designated time, once the sun has gone down, clothes will be shed and a revelry begun.

As fireworks explode overhead, the different colors send the naked senses reeling:
  • Red: You are amorous towards the people around you. Yours is a joyous celebration. The Auspicious Acts you offer are happy and lighthearted, full of kisses and sweet nothings.

  • Orange: You feel bold and adventurous, eager to try something - or someone - new. Your preferred Acts may be dangerous or exciting, perhaps with more than one person.

  • Yellow: You feel reverence when you watch the fireworks, reverence when you look at your fellow people. You feel blessed to be part of the celebration at the House of Worship, and you make the Acts you complete into Acts of worship. You are all about the spirit of generosity.

  • Green: You are not here to celebrate. Jealousy is your lot. Uncover a new side of yourself, full of bitterness and resentment, and try an Act that treads the fine line between light and dark.

  • Indigo: You are proud to celebrate! Those around you are lucky to bask in your presence. You have a newly-minted domineering attitude that makes itself known, and your Acts are likely to be something where you'll come out on top.

  • Violet: These fireworks make you feel unusual - the opposite of yourself. You are different in all that you want to do, preferring Auspicious Acts that you may not have thought twice about before.

  • A group shower will be provided after the festivities wind down.

    III. MISTLETOE

Many cherub dragons can be found gathering together in the Greenhouse, working together to finish the cultivation of a new plant. They spend an exhaustive night decorating the island with the new greenery, which can soon be identified as mistletoe.

You may think it's sweet of them, but don't get caught underneath one of these sprigs!

Standing under the dragon's mistletoe will cause sensory deprivation - and of course, the only way to regain what was lost is to indulge in an Auspicious Act.

(You may choose whichever sense you like, or even choose to be figurative, such as "the sense of reason" or "a sense of purpose.")

Arrival

On a scale of one to ten, suddenly finding herself in the ocean and having to stumble out of the water onto dry sand is probably somewhere near a solid nine and a half, in terms of things she wouldn't have been expecting to do today.

And yet, here she is.

Ty Lee frowns slightly as she attempts to wring out her hair. Her clothes appear to be missing, but walking around exposed for all to see isn't something she's particularly worried about just now.

She's in the process of swatting and shaking the sand away when the robot approaches. Immediately, she straightens up and fixes the mechanical menace with a bright smile.

"Hey, thanks!"

The towel is familiar, and it's immediately repurposed into a dress. The device is an oddity, though she puts it on rather than tossing it away. Maybe she'll keep it for now.

Once that's out of the way, she's off to poke around the island. Eventually, she'll make her way toward the apartments.

Six Flagellants

If her mood was somewhere around a five when she got here, just being in this place has driven it up to about twenty. There's just something inherently exciting about an amusement park!

She'll be making the rounds.

On the ferris wheel, she's friendly and attentive to her cartmate, and if they play their cards right or just say please, she might be convinced to dispense with a bit more than a kiss to get things moving again. The carousel seems exciting. She's new so she doesn't really recognize any of the faces, so she's just going to pick one of the figures and hope for the best! Later, in the Tunnel of Love, she's all but ready to lay her head down and have a little nap. The lewd little illustrations displayed on her log are just risque enough to put a pretty blush on her cheeks, but she seems otherwise unaffected.

Later, she can be spotted nibbling on a corndog as she wanders around.

Like a Firework

There's just something beautiful about fireworks. The fact that everyone is shedding their clothes before the show gets started is a bit odd, but Ty Lee is slowly starting to wrap her head around the idea.

Once the lightshow begins, however, her focus is solely on the colorful display. It might not even occur to her to question the way she's feeling unless someone decides to approach her in that moment.

Etc.

[I'll match whichever format! Feel free to drag her into any of the other rides if the mood strikes. I've left the fireworks prompt kind of vague to allow people to roll with whatever floats their boat. You can catch me at [plurk.com profile] Doodlebuginette if you have any questions, or if you wanna work out something specific.]

[ To be frank, carnivals aren't Keith's idea of a good time, but it goes against his nature to ignore a new place that's opened up. But even with the boredom/nosiness factor at play, he's still not stupid enough to actually get on one of the rides as he's gotten a little too used to the Augur's usual shenanigans.

That said, he still finds himself getting shoved into a ferris wheel car by the robots when he happens to get too close to the front of the line while trying to examine the ride. Fortunately or unfortunately for Ty Lee, that means she's stuck in the ride with an annoyed Keith who sits opposite from her with his arms folded.
]

Hi.

[ Good thing she's cheery enough for both of them?]

Are you new here or are you just really excited about kissing strangers?

[personal profile] circuslife 2020-12-20 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi!

[Unfortunately for Keith, she is in an exceedingly good mood... which means she's incredibly happy to see him. It also means she's going to take one look at that grump face and decide that all he really needs is someone to cheer him up.

It's kind of a half-formed plan, but it seems simple enough. She certainly has faith in her ability to turn that grumpy frown upside down. The question gives her pause, but only for a couple of seconds before she ultimately shrugs and stretches her legs.]

Yes. And also yes. I don't remember how I got here, and I don't there's a way to go home, but this place seems pretty great!

[Spoken like a true newbie.]

What about you?
marmoron: marmoron (vol..tron?)

[personal profile] marmoron 2020-12-21 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ If nothing else, her unwavering enthusiasm does get Keith to pause and stare. Is she always like this? Does he necessarily want to rain on her parade? It wouldn't exactly be the first time he's encountered someone who thinks sex island is paradise in disguise. ]

Uh... [ Give him a tick to recalibrate. There's too much cheer. ] I don't think I've ever been excited about being here.

[ The ferris wheel starts moving again as the couple in the top car seems to have finished their dirty deed, bringing them up higher into the sky. Keith shifts his attention away from Ty Lee to the view -- or more accurately, he's trying to do the mental calculation of how feasible jumping out of this car without dying might be. ]
circuslife: (Spotlight on me and I'm ready to break)

[personal profile] circuslife 2020-12-28 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Ty Lee has, fortunately, never been to another place quite like this. But she's also been here for a day or so, and has yet to wise up to the ways of the world. And honestly, she's pretty much always like this.]

What do you get excited about, then?

[It's probably the wrong thing to ask. Or at the very least, this is the wrong time to ask. But the words are already out there, and she can't pretend she isn't curious.]

I'm not sure if I'm excited about being here specifically, but I suppose things could be worse.

[She could be locked up again. Or back home, in a neat little row. She starts a little as the car begins to move again and glances out the window.]

Are you afraid of heights?
marmoron: marmoron (speechless with underwhlemed feelings)

[personal profile] marmoron 2020-12-29 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
[ Her last question is what gets the most visible reaction from him as Keith immediately turns his attention back to Ty Lee. ]

What? No, of course not. I was just trying to -- [ See if he could still jump out of the car from this height? Okay, yeah, he knows better than to say things that make him sound like a complete psycho... at least some of the time. ] Never mind.

[ The two of them go higher up and when the ride comes to a stop, they're at the top of the ferris wheel. Keith resists the urge to scrub a hand down his face. ]

I get excited about plenty of things. Being forced into stupid situations isn't one of them.

[ ... Which yes, it's not Ty Lee's fault, so deep sigh. ]

What's your name?

circuslife: I call the shots (I'm like the ringleader)

I am sorry, Keef does not deserve this

[personal profile] circuslife 2020-12-29 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! Good! That's probably a good thing.

[Considering where they are, anyway. She just shrugs it off, though, as the question was more conversational than anything.]

Trying to what? [Another glance toward the ground, before she finally turns back to Keith. Maybe he spotted someone he knew.]

Not a fan of blind dates?

[This isn't really a blind date so much as a couple of people being stranded in a ride together, but eh. Semantics.]

I'm Ty Lee! Nice to meet you.
marmoron: marmoron (_3 concern)

omg

[personal profile] marmoron 2020-12-29 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ BLINK. ]

Blind date?

[ He glances around the car, like he's searching for a sign that explicitly spells that out. Sorry, was she waiting for him to tell her what his name is? He's gone completely off script now. ]

Was this supposed to be a blind date? I thought it was just the line for the ferris wheel.
circuslife: just like a circus (All eyes on me in the center of the ring)

it's only going to get worse from here

[personal profile] circuslife 2020-12-29 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't that what this is?

[She genuinely has no idea. It feels like a safe assumption, but this place has been lowkey enough so far that she's not entirely sure either way.

His reaction is amusing, though.]

I figured that's what they were going for when they shooed you in here.

[If she's at all bothered by his abrupt about-face, she's not going to let it show.]

Maybe they thought you could use a smile.
marmoron: marmoron (kill me now)

my turn to be sorry

[personal profile] marmoron 2020-12-29 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
The robots definitely think I need more than a smile.

[ Of course, it's the instant after he's said that that Keith realizes he really shouldn't have. Face heating up slightly, he drops eye contact. ]

Not just me. All of us.

[ After digging himself a deeper hole, Keith just decides to stop talking entirely to scrub his hand down his face. ]

I think we're starting off on the wrong foot.
circuslife: (Don't stand there watching me)

never be sorry lmao

[personal profile] circuslife 2020-12-31 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! Like a hug?

[She's either being intentionally cute or she's really that naive. The former seems more likely, given how long she's been here and how much she's overheard.]

That's nice of them.

[It's also... pretty weird, but she's just going to keep telling herself the robots have everyone's best interests in mind.]
marmoron: prescar (Look bub)

[personal profile] marmoron 2020-12-31 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
No, like ...

[ Keith sighs deeply. On the one hand, no he doesn't really want to discuss bingo cards and auspicious acts right now, but on the other hand it feels wrong to let some newcomer to the island just wander around with no real understanding of how the place works. Reluctantly, he taps the bracelet on his wrist. ]

The stuff on the A5 cards.
circuslife: everybody gon' trip, just like a circus (When I crack that whip)

[personal profile] circuslife 2021-01-01 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that stuff.

[He's really just going to come out and say it like that, isn't he? Though, she supposes she won't be able to avoid talking about it forever, so why not now?]

I already heard about that, but I figured it was more of a suggestion.
marmoron: (speaking face)

[personal profile] marmoron 2021-01-01 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
There are ways around having to actually do any of it for necessities, sure. But if you get caught up in any of the weird stuff that happens around here, usually doing something on those cards is the only way to make it stop.

[ It's all stated matter of factly enough, though there's a pinch of resigned annoyance there as well. Keith's been here long enough to have fully dispelled any notion that the auspicious acts are entirely optional. ]

... Also if you really don't want to deal with your card, you probably shouldn't eat or drink anything in the wilderness. Or anything made by the robots.
circuslife: (Spotlight on me and I'm ready to break)

[personal profile] circuslife 2021-01-03 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
So... they say it's optional when it's not really optional? That's not very nice. Why not just tell people it's something they have to do?

[On the other hand, telling people they're expected to go along with a number of odd sexual acts every so often might not be the best idea, either.]

And I don't know. Some of the things on the card don't seem half bad.

[Then again, there are some she doesn't even get.]
marmoron: marmoron (i can't describe this face)

[personal profile] marmoron 2021-01-03 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the Augur for you.

[ Not nice, not straight forward. God, if he ever has to listen to another Augur riddle-poem-headache, it'll be too soon. ]

The upside to it is that if you do choose to complete a square, you can ask for something in return. Pretty much anything you want, actually. Your favorite snacks, a house, dragons. Eros energy is pretty incredible.
circuslife: I call the shots (Default)

[personal profile] circuslife 2021-01-03 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
The Augur.

[It's short and easy to remember, even if it's not terribly fun to say. That next bit has her perking up quite a bit, though.]

There are dragons here? Like... real dragons?

[She's naturally assuming they're like the ones from home.]

How many times have you done it? What kinds of things have you asked for?
marmoron: marmoron (bah humbug)

[personal profile] marmoron 2021-01-03 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh...

[ WOW Ty Lee, you don't just ask a dude how many times he's had sex, okay? Keith is visibly flustered by the question, face heating up a little as he folds his arms. ]

I-- okay, look. If we ever get out of this car, I can show you my dragon buddy. I'm not telling you how many times I've done it. [ Possibly because the truth of the matter is just that he's stopped counting.... ]

But I've asked for some upgrades to my house, my hoverbike a robot to do the cooking and some upgrades to the community gym.

hi dont worry azulas here to ruin her trip to the sex carnival

[personal profile] unstable 2020-12-21 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's as if all the air is sucked from her lungs the second she spots her, forcing her to freeze as all her oxygen is seemingly replaced with blind fury. She forgets they're in public, all the laughter of passerby and cheery ride noises drowned out as she tries to keep it under control, lightning licking her fingertips.

Azula darts forward, quickly weaving through the crowd in order to reach her perky ex-friend-- she'd rather have seen Zuko than the face that should be rotting in some dark cell somewhere, forgotten. The last time she'd seen Ty Lee, she should have slapped her harder.

This time, however, it's the corndog that faces her wrath, smacked out of Ty Lee's hand and onto the ground. ]
circuslife: (Don't stand there watching me)

god Azula. get a massage or something.

[personal profile] circuslife 2020-12-28 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
[On the other hand, Ty Lee is rather enjoying the upbeat atmosphere. It's not quite like being at home, but it's also not without its charms.

And the food here is delightful! In fact, that's probably not the first meat on a stick she's had today. It also won't be the last.

Or, well, she would have been enjoying the corndog if some gloomy gus hadn't decided to show up and slap it out of her hand.]

Hey-

[Oh, that's definitely not the first person she was expecting to see here. Her expression is a mix of confusion and wariness- though she still manages to put on a smile for the one she'd called friend for so long.]

Azula! Hi!
unstable: (pic#14247050)

[personal profile] unstable 2020-12-29 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ Ty Lee's reaction to her only infuriates her more. Hi? A smile? There should be fear, even maybe anger-- she did, after all, fully intend for Ty Lee to rot in a cell for all of eternity. She takes a step forward, blue flames erupting from her left hand until she bends it in a fiery blade, holding it to the acrobat's throat. ]

I am finding it difficult to think of a reason not to kill you.

What happens if you kill me?

[Maybe not the best approach, but she's genuinely curious. She's also gambling on the fact that she's pretty sure Azula won't actually kill her.

The blade at her throat isn't particularly comforting, either, but Ty Lee tends to be a glass half full kind of girl.]

I know you aren't this vacuous, Ty Lee, unless you've lost what was remaining of whatever is in that head of yours on the trip here.

[ The blade burns hotter, uncertain how satisfied she'd be destroying her here on the island. ]

You'd die.
circuslife: (Spotlight on me and I'm ready to break)

[personal profile] circuslife 2021-01-01 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yes.

[That's generally the outcome, so there's no need to even question that part. But she had asked, and her phrasing could have been better.

Either way, she's not making any moves to try to get out of the way, or even to defend herself.]

I don't want to fight. If you think it'll make you happy, I'm not going to stop you.
unstable: (pic#14459514)

[personal profile] unstable 2021-01-07 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ This conversation gets worse as the minutes go by, feeling foolish for hesitating ending her life the more Ty Lee makes it clear there's no fear there, no reason to fight her. Why? She wasn't ready to have to deal with this, with anyone from her home, but especially Ty Lee-- why was she hesitating? She had every reason to kill her, to ruin her life, to torture her until the end of time.

The fire extinguishes and Azula smacks her hard across the face instead. ]
