It is a simple thing to do when one has cultivated. However, cultivating is not an easy thing to start when past the prime age and lacking root and talent for it.

[Not that Proud Immortal Demon Way ever explained it's cultivation system in any detail, for Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky was that sort of lazy writer that hoped his audience would simply fill in the blanks with their general cultivation knowledge and do the work for him.]

One should start when they are twelve or younger. Though you can start later, it gives a weaker foundation and more difficulties in progressing. The later one starts the less further they can go.
