[Felix can barely even be surprised when the automata drag him to a boat and Edelgard is sitting in it. Great. Just what he needed, a slow and leisurely boat ride with plenty of time to talk to the woman who replaced him in Dimitri's heart. It's not that he has anything against Edelgard herself - far from it, in fact - it's just that it will probably be awkward as hell.
Especially if Edelgard somehow knows what transpired between him and Dimitri. Who knows, maybe she already has an inkling even if not - after all, she was here when the previous versions of him were apparently fucking everything up for him. So that's...great.
But this, this right here, the fact that she's not expecting him to say anything and they can just exist in silence without it having to be a big fucking deal - this is one of the many reasons that he prefers to spend time with Edelgard over most people. So he watches the scenery go by, not particularly charmed by it and getting more bored by the minute, until she finally says something and he glances over at her, then over the side of the boat.
"Can't be that deep with all these trees so close to the water's edge. Why do you ask?"
Sure, he loathes small talk, but he knows she's not prone to it, either. So she must have an actual reason for asking. From anyone else he wouldn't have bothered with a response, but now he's somewhat curious.
Besides, if they're talking about the water, that means they're not talking about Dimitri or the sea zombie battle or any of that. Or about Sylvain, either, which...it's not like he's embarrassed by their relationship or anything, it's just that he doesn't like talking about that kind of thing in general and he doesn't want to have to explain how it came about. (He tries not to think about the fact that on sex island he's going to have to tell people sooner or later, to set boundaries and expectations...ugh.)
falling over you!
