"I believe there were fundamental misunderstandings between Edelgard and Dimitri," he lamented, thinking of how the Dimitri of his world had met such an unfortunate end. "He felt that the Flame Emperor, and thus Edelgard, was responsible for the Tragedy of Duscur and many other things. But she had nothing to do with it. She was just a child at the time, and she was the child of a powerless emperor at that." He wished that there was some other path Edelgard could have taken, some other way to undo the social order that had led to so much suffering and inequality.
"Thankfully, Dimitri—the Dimitri who is here—has grown significantly as a person," he noted, starting to pour the tea into the cups with practiced poise. "He and Edelgard have come to an understanding. Even if it took both of them being transported to this place for it to happen, I am glad that they were able to reconcile." He was leaving out the juicier parts, however. Manuela probably didn't need to know all the unsavory details.
