TDM 015: IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PARADISE

TDM 015: IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PARADISE

00. Arrival

You come out of the water, the Nameless Island's own inherent energy drawing people in. It's like being suspended between realities and abruptly pushed from behind through a rift in dimensions. It may make you sick, or that might be the motion of the ocean, lifting you to the surface and carrying you to shore.

Waterlogged and covered in sand, new arrivals will be greeted by robots who welcome them with towels and bracelet devices. The A5 card is already loaded up. If you don’t manage to get away from them quickly enough, they may even usher you toward the Laid Bare Spa, where new arrivals will be offered free massages, a sauna, hairstyling, and their clothing may come up permanently missing. But you will be given a complimentary towel to leave with if needed!

Feel free to explore the Island, though there isn’t much to see beyond what arrivals before you have helped to rebuild. Most of the buildings are abandoned and in dire need of repair, and beyond the city lingers a thick fog that obscures much of the wilderness from view. Wander too far into this fog, and you will find yourself mysteriously looping back to where you began, your memories of what you were doing and how you got there erased.

With that in mind, it may be wise to stake your claim on a place to live in the now, whether a rundown apartment in the City, a tent on the beach, a bed in the barracks, or your own space at the House of Worship. Your inventory will be found a day later, wrapped up haphazardly and delivered to each person's makeshift home.

I. Beach Episode

Welcome to your beautiful and sunny island paradise, Erku! ...wait, it's sunny? That's right! For about two weeks, the Island will enjoy unusually warm and clear weather, just perfect for enjoying the cool waters of the beach. Don't swim out too far, however, lest you stray into hazardous choppy waters or get lost in the fog that still lingers beyond the peaceful cove. Just stay close, and you're golden! Once again, friendly robots have erected beachside food stalls for grilling fish and crabs, and encourage any enterprising Islanders to help hawk foods for credits.

If gutting and cleaning fish isn't your forte, however, never fear. The robots are recruiting for a very important task! You see, they have very thoughtfully set up swimming and snorkeling lessons for any Islanders who are doubting their skills at staying afloat, or who just want to have some fun in the waves. There is only one complication: the robots are too heavy to swim.

Enter, you! Earn credits by instructing your fellow Islanders in the marvels of the ocean. Not just swimming and snorkeling, but also fishing, clam digging, and sand castle art - among other things - are valuable skills you can sell.

II. Sand Sport

For the more competitive sort, the robots of Erku are happy to share a bit of culture from the planet's ancient past: wet sand wrestling! Volunteers (or any innocent Islander roped off the beach by an enthusiastic 'bot) don their skimpiest swimwear and duke it out for dominance in the wet sand by trying to throw their opponent outside of a ring. Knock-outs count as an automatic lose, so be careful! Oh, and no worries if you aren't particularly strong. Before the match, competitors are offered a a special drink - simply named "The Creamy" - an ancient recipe which is said to temporarily increase your strength and vitality. One shot of this, and anyone could take on Goliath! (And not just in a fight.)

By the way… those who lose the competition are mysteriously compelled to accompany the victor for the day, waiting on them hand and foot, anticipating and fulfilling their needs before they are spoken. Did the 'bots forget to mention that?

III. Graciously Given Gifts

While swimming in the nude is completely acceptable on the Island, the robots know that many residents still (for some reason) value their modesty. That is why they are happy to encourage beachside revelry and communion by making sure scanty swimwear is readily available to Islanders who are in need of something to cover up with - while still showing off your assets, of course. Islanders may purchase for themselves, but they are especially encouraged to gift swimwear to their fellow Islanders... in fact, any swimwear to be given as a gift is free! Not only is it a lovely gesture to let a friend or lover know you appreciate their body, but also, swimwear received as a gift is said to be very good luck in wet sand wrestling competitions.

Naturally, the robots are sensitive to the emotional needs of their organic charges, and thus they wouldn't want any new, recent, or less personable arrivals to the Island to feel left out for not receiving gifts. That's why some Islanders will find surprise swimsuits in pretty gift wrap sitting on their literal or metaphorical doorstep… addressed with love from a random Islander! With thoughtfully written messages included, of course, usually complimenting the recipient's figure in graphic and/or poetic terms.

If you have any manners, surely you'll find these mystery admirers and thank them for the lovely gift! (If you're really a person of culture, maybe you'll even show it off for them.)

Aranea Highwind || Final Fantasy XV

Arrival

Aranea spent far too long laying in the sand, trying to relearn how to breathe. Her armor may be light, but it had nearly killed her. When she finally had the strength, she sat up and looked around. She certainly wasn't home anymore. It was far too bright. She grumbled a bit as she worked at the fastenings of her armor. She was still a bit weak, but it didn't appear that she would be in a fight anytime soon.

"Now that I've taken care of that, I should figure out where in the hell I'm at."

She picked up her armor and started to head in the general direction that she saw people.

Beach Episode

It didn't take long for her to find a place to store her armor and find some more appropriate beach wear. She had chosen a more modest swim suit, a simple black tankini. She didn't mind showing off her body, but she didn't like how little most of the other options she had covered. She had also found some dark glasses to cover her eyes. The sun was still a bit bright.

She found a place to sit outside of one of the food vendors and started to watch the people around her. She still didn't understand what was going on, but she might as well make the best of the situation.

"You look like you're settling in nicely." Emi was pretty sure she'd seen this woman from a bit of a distance away back on the beach, anyways; and she was already chilling. Of course Emi had taken a swimsuit as well, a tiny green little bikini with black stripes that didn't look completely flattering with how petite she was. But it was... fine. It was fine.

"Looks can be deceiving, kid," Aranea said with a small smile as she looked over at Emi. "I'm just taking some time to get used to all of this."

She motioned around them and shook her head a little bit. This place was a lot to get used to. Especially with what they wanted everyone to do. "Its a lot to get used to. Freaking out over it won't help. It won't get me back home any faster."

"That's how I'm looking at it. It's... kind of how I'm not just curling up in a ball and screaming, actually?" That sounded like a good idea at first, but why suffer and be tired and have a sore throat?

So she was at least meandering around, trying to not be too freaked out here. "I don't know where to even start getting outta here though."

"It's probably best to learn about this place before trying to figure out how to get home. Though, this isn't too bad. Its better than constant darkness at least," she said with a slight shake of her head. She made good money in the darkness as a mercenary.

Seeing the sun again was nice, even if it did sting her eyes. "I don't really trust the things that run this place."

"So we aren't like, fighting our way out guns blazing. ...uh, good, I'm not any help there." SOME people here are apparently video game characters or something. "But uh, yeah, I don't trust kidnappers much either."

[personal profile] magitek_dragoon 2021-07-22 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
"There are times when stealth is a better than going in guns blazing. We know next to nothing about this place. It would be incredibly dumb to start fighting someone we don't understand." Her time in the military helped her a lot with things like this, but it also seemed liked common sense to learn about a potential enemy before trying to fight.
chariotsofcarbonfiber: (Questions That Need Answering)

[personal profile] chariotsofcarbonfiber 2021-07-22 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. ...I guess that makes sense." Emi doesn't... fight. So all of this is a bit over her head. "Just let me know when things start going down I guess."

[personal profile] magitek_dragoon 2021-07-24 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Aranea was a former military woman, thinking like that was second nature to her. "Its going to be a long time before I start fighting, unless someone decides to just randomly attack."

[personal profile] chariotsofcarbonfiber 2021-07-25 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess I have time to think about what I'll do, then..." But that means she's got a looong time to get used to this fuckparty.

beach!

[personal profile] impostersyndrome 2021-07-20 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Prompto does a double take. Then a triple take, just to be sure. She’s not wearing her armor, but she’s still unmistakable.

“Aranea!?”

For Prompto’s part, he’s been wrestled into a tight pair of athletic swim trunks, not as revealing as some but still form fitting. He doesn’t have on any sunglasses, but he does have his camera.

“When did you get here?”
magitek_dragoon: (Let's do this)

[personal profile] magitek_dragoon 2021-07-21 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
She quickly turned to Prompto, smiling at the familiar voice. "I washed up a few hours ago. I've only been able to get my armor stored. I know how to swim, but trying to do so in armor isn't the best of ideas."

It was good to see the photographer. It meant that she could trust at least one person in this place. "So is his highness here as well? Or just the two of us?"
impostersyndrome: (I want everyone)

[personal profile] impostersyndrome 2021-07-21 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
A shadow passes over his face briefly at the mention of Noctis, but then he brightens up again.

“Afraid it’s just us. But man, you have no idea how glad I am to see you.”

He bounds closer, all smiles. Given her friendly reaction, he assumes she remembers what he remembers, which means he isn’t about to get his head sliced off. Excellent.

“I guess you already got the rundown, huh?” He hopes she did. He isn’t explaining sex bingo to Aranea.
magitek_dragoon: (Smile)

[personal profile] magitek_dragoon 2021-07-22 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
She motions to the seat across from her. They could talk better if he sat down. She had already gotten some information from the robots around this place, but she didn't trust it at all.

"I have. I'm glad you're here. At least I can trust you," she said with a slight shake of her head. She really didn't want to discuss sex bingo. She was still trying to wrap her head around this whole place.

"At least they seem to want us to enjoy ourselves while we're here."
impostersyndrome: (I am faster than you)

[personal profile] impostersyndrome 2021-07-23 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
He sits, looking like a happy golden retriever at being considered trustworthy. Not that he ever doubted his own trustworthiness, but he’s had Aranea feels that way.

He trusts her, too. Which is wild to think about, but killing giant godkiller worm machines together can do that.

“Yeah, I guess so! But their idea of us enjoying ourselves is a little…”

Perverted.

“Anyway. It’s weird here, but not dangerous. Not unless you try to leave the city, anyway.”

And even then he doubts it would pose much challenge for her.
magitek_dragoon: (Hmm)

[personal profile] magitek_dragoon 2021-07-24 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
"This place seems to be just plain kinky."

She shook her head a bit at that and raised an eyebrow at his last statement. "what's outside the city?"

That had her a little bit worried. Still, she had her weapons and her armor. There wasn't a reason why she couldn't fight if she had to. She needed to know more first though.

Arrival

[personal profile] braidedwonder 2021-07-22 12:12 am (UTC)(link)

Patrolling the beach for any familiar newcomers practically passes like clock work, anymore. The amount of people from their side of the universe has waned in recent months, more likely disappearing people than bringing them in, but... Duo wasn't one to leave a familiar face behind. And, perhaps, somewhere deep down, he's hoping to see a familiar face that looks a lot like Hilde Schbeiker, one day.

Aranea is not Hilde, but Duo is interested anyway, head tipping slightly at the sight of armor, debating for a moment before he approaches her.

"Y'need a hand or anything?"
magitek_dragoon: (Chit chat)

[personal profile] magitek_dragoon 2021-07-22 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
"I can handle it, but a hand wouldn't hurt," she said as she set the armor down and moved a few things around. She held out her helmet and a few smaller bits of armor. "Thanks."

"I don't recommend trying to swim in armor. Even lightweight armor is a good way to try and drown." She needed to figure out a safe place to stay and store her armor while she figured out what this place was and how to get out of it.
braidedwonder: (who's gon' save me from this hell)

[personal profile] braidedwonder 2021-07-24 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)

“I don’t mind helpin’.” Duo shrugs; taking the pieces of armor that she offers easily. He’s a slight kid, but not as weak as he may appear. Such is a thing for gundam pilots, really.

Snake in the grass, etc.

“Yeah, see, I came in with a five foot rope of hair so I kinda get it.” Duo laughs lightly, as if he still doesn’t have that rope of hair. As if it isn’t obvious as he turns to walk with her anyway, the long braid still reaching his thighs.

“At least they did drop my gundam in the damn ocean.”
