Yes, it was obvious that they were from different time periods. Her and her husband were from different times. As were her and A-Yao. So, the being from different time periods made sense. Though, having someone tell her that they had nothing against her and then add the word 'but' into a sentence was not amusing. Even if she's not looking too far into that.
