Nao's smile isn't just from tasting it himself, but from the compliment too. He's far from being a master chef or even just at a regular restaurant he thinks, but he's learned quite a bit from his part on feeding his huge family. That and cooking is one of the only (if just the only) survival skill he can really offer to a fellow resident here, since something like hunting or flying or whatever isn't in the cards for him. Don't get him started on the space ships - he doesn't even own a car.
