It isn't kid gloves. Percy does not want to touch Vax and find that he is not real. He doesn't think he could take it after everything leading up to this. But then Vax is hugging him and he is real and solid and warm and living, and Percy feels a sting in his eyes. The uncertainty shatters and Percival wraps his arms tightly around Vax.
