I... suppose they do have quite a bit of character. We don't have holidays like that where I'm from, though.

Not that we don't have holidays, but none of them are fun, exactly. They all either celebrate one of the saints of the predominant religion, or the days of founding for the nations that make up the continent. There are celebrations held, but... nothing like you've described.
