Arrival ![]() This time, you come out of the water. While the Augur reboots, the Nameless Island's own inherent energy draws people in. It's like being suspended between realities and walking through a rift in dimensions. It may make you sick, or that might be the motion of the ocean, lifting you and carrying you to shore. Waterlogged and covered in sand, new arrivals will be greeted by robots who welcome them with towels and bracelet devices. The A5 card is already loaded up. Inventory will be found a day later, wrapped up haphazardly and delivered to each person's makeshift home. I. Feel the friendship! ![]() Recent arrivals and visitors to the beach may notice a sudden influx of hundreds of bright red crustaceans crawling (and coupling) across the sand. It's crab mating season, as it turns out, it's a regular invasion! To keep the beach a pleasant place to gather for the island's inhabitants, the robots are offering credits to especially enterprising crab-catchers. Grab a bucket and get to work! Be sure to watch out for their pinch, mind you. Their little claws are tiny, but that doesn’t mean they don’t hurt. Surprisingly, there is another effect that even the robots don't anticipate: islanders who are pinched by the crabs find themselves feeling instantly buddy-buddy with the next person they spot. Did you just become best friends?! Get pinched one too many times, however, and those feelings may sour into a crabby mood, indeed. If you are feeling particularly vengeful (or just hungry), the little crabs do make for delicious gumbo. Once cooked, they have no side effects whatsoever. II. Phallus Phestival ![]() Although the Augur is offline and supplies are scarce, the robots of Erku are still eager to make their run-down little island a welcoming place for the new arrivals. To that end, they have arranged a three day festival to boost morale and promote the generation of plenty of Eros energy to assist in the restoration of the damaged and decayed parts of the city. The robots claim that this celebration was once a cornerstone of the long-lost civilization of the island. By the dawn of the first day, every island resident will find at their doorstep (or tent flap, mobile suit, etc) the traditional costume of the ancient islanders to wear to the festival. It appears to be... a giant sheet? There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the sometimes garish colors and patterns of the fabric, but at least the robots have uploaded instructions on how to wear it to your bracelet device. Attendees will find food (mostly crab-flavored), confections, and household necessities in rather suggestive shapes, as well as goods you might find handy to complete your A5 squares: sex toys, pervertibles, sexy maid outfits, and the like. While islanders are welcome to set up shop on the festival grounds and sell (or charge) whatever they like, all items from the robots are offered up for free to those who wear their traditional island garb! III. Fireside Adventures ![]() Each night of the festival is wrapped up in style with an enormous bonfire on the beach, where drinks, fruity cocktails, and lively music appropriate for dancing is all provided at no cost by the robots. Even if you’re not usually much of a dancer, the longer you stand by the fire and allow it to warm your limbs, the more you feel like moving! Not only that, but everyone is looking quite beautiful by the firelight, are they not? If you’ve grown tired - or if dancing just isn’t your thing - you might prefer to sit back and swap stories on one of the many driftwood log benches the robots have prepared for seating. Or, maybe you’d prefer to rough it for the night in one of the beachside canvas tents. Better claim one quick, though, or be prepared to share… there’s only one sleeping bag! N A V I G A T I O N |

festival
As she's perusing the stalls, she hears a woman speak and glances over.
Ah, time for newcomers already?] No kidding.
I hate to say it, but you get used to it.
no subject
Please tell me there's other stuff to do around here.

[Rise says, clasping her hands behind her back and leaning forward, her tone a little teasing. She's getting used to it, for better or for worse.] The bad news is that it's pretty much all like this.
Not a fan of random penises everywhere, I take it?
no subject
No, it's not that. [ the 1920s were a really horny decade no matter how you look at it, but even then it was never this explicit. ] Everyone needs a little variety in their life.
[ plus like... korra's big on personal freedom and it would be really!!! nice!!! to just CHOOSE to do this instead of having it be expected of you, and the more korra thinks about it, the more annoyed she gets. being respectful of another culture is one thing, but that road goes both ways. ]
no subject
[She pauses, and her tone turns a little more sympathetic.] No, seriously-- it's a lot. I get how you feel.
I'd say "you get used to it," but I don't think that'd really make you feel any better.
arrival;
she manages to steady herself on her knees, eyes downcast to the sand as she tries to level out her breathing, still not quite registering how she'd ended up here at all, not knowing just how far from camelot she must be. if she'd come here through the water, it shouldn't be far, right?
but the woman's voice jolts her a little, leaving her head with a slight gasp of surprise. ]
Oh, I'm — [ she looks down again, fingers pinching the silk of her dress. ] I think drying might be out of the question.
no subject
[ the material doesn't look much heavier than anything korra's used to dealing with — asami's dresses are often made of heavy silk whenever she's going somewhere fancy. knitting her eyebrows together, korra, noticeably dry despite the fact that she too just pulled herself from the waves, steps forward to the other woman and pokes at the skirts. very heavy now that they're waterlogged, sure, but nothing she can't deal with. ]
I dunno, seems easy enough to me.
fire;
The alcoholic drinks catch his interest, but he's wrestling with partaking, actually. When Korra approaches him, he's seeming to be talking to himself. ]
Yeah, no.. well.. maybe. I mean.. one couldn't hurt, it's just.. I've gone so long without, do I really—
[ anyway, he looks up from where he's seated to see a woman who could probably snap his twiggy body in half, so, the answer is pretty obvious when she takes him by the arm and pulls him from his seat: ]
I'd be absolutely honored to.
[ EVERYONE IS SO NICE HERE. Did he die and ended up in actual heaven? And he's not getting kicked out of it? ]
no subject
Great! Let's go!
[ despite her rough handling, it's just korra's enthusiasm running away with her, and klaus could easily break free from her grasp if he wanted to. sand kicks up at her feet, and the toga she's still wearing is fluid around her legs. for a few moments she'll let herself get caught up in the motion of people around them before she finally laughs and gets close enough to klaus to ask: ]
Been here long?
no subject
But fine. A dance it is.
He doesn’t mind being rough handled, actually preferring that (scandalous) but when he does have a chance he does break free to do his own thing. His own thing is a smoothly executed “twist” cause that seemed to be all the rave in Dallas, 1963, right now. ]
Ooooh, no no. I mean, I got here a few days ago, but I’m kind of getting used to ending up in places I don’t belong at this rate so I just roll with it.
You? Are all the women where you’re from as strong as you?
[ Cause sign him up if that’s the case. ]
no subject
Sort of? [ she laughs a little, reaching her hands forward to klaus's to take, if he'll let her. ] But I've been in training since I was four — it's kind of a big deal.
no subject
Do I know a thing or two about training since age four! Tell me about them, though. Your training. Your world. Yadda yadda.
Oh, also, you should lead, ‘cause I just think it would go a lot better if you did.

Fire
It seems I can't resist. [She's only teasing, of course, and the bright smile on her face makes it clear as she easily steps into the beat, allowing Korra to lead.]
Are you always this direct, or should I feel special?
no subject
I've never been good at subtlety, [ she grins, ] but that doesn't mean you shouldn't feel special.

[Silver eyes sparkle with delight and mischief as Summer laughs. Oh, she likes this girl.]
I'm Summer Rose. What can I call you?

day 2
[ Asami's always held hope that she would find one of her friends in the crowd of new arrivals, because as awful as this place might be, she missed their company terribly. The last thing she expects is to see Korra's polar bear dog, though. She's careful not to have too much hope, since it isn't unheard of that the Augur would summon pets here.
She approaches Naga, quick to lean down and give the polar bear dog an affectionate hug around her neck before pulling back. ]
Hey, girl! What are you doing here? You wouldn't happen to know if Korra or any of the others are nearby, would you?
no subject
so instead she'll stuff her big head under asami's arm, snuffling, and then trying to lead her in the direction of korra's scent. ]
no subject
Yeah? Well, she can't be too far. This city isn't very big, and it's impossible to get off this island.
[ Although, maybe the Avatar could do it. If anyone could, it'd be Korra. ]
Let's go find her, girl.
[ She gives Naga a warm scratch behind the ears before hopping onto her back and hanging on. It's something familiar, something she associates with home, and it immediately brings her comfort. ]
no subject
thankfully, she's just that great.
when the two of them cross paths with korra she's in the middle of bartering with one of the shopkeeps at the festival. with no money to her name, korra is trying to offer other services (no not those) in exchange for something to eat because spirits around her, she is starving. it's getting her nowhere. with frustration does korra pull at her face and sigh loudly — only to feel her fingers relax at the sudden beat of pawpads against the city's ground and a familiar awooo! that cuts through the din. ]
...Naga—? [ and then she sees who's with her: ] Asami!
[ forget food. miss sato is far more important, and with a racing heart korra darts towards her two favorite girls, one arm wrapping excitedly around naga's neck while her other hand reaches forward to touch asami's knee. tui's gills, she's real! they both are! ]

arrival.
Azula drags her hand through her hair in an attempt to free her gaze from the partial obstruction, only managing to encourage the tangles and make more of a mess. she has to swallow, a disgusting mixture of sea salt and sand that almost encourages her illness, but she keeps it down if only to spit the rest out at the last robot on her stop off the hell beach.
Korra's warm voice forces her to still, hands falling loosely to her sides as she's given up her endeavor to look presentable. after what seemed like an eternity with tiny, metal hands, she didn't know whether or not she wanted to kill or kiss the first real human person she could kind of lay eyes on. because of the hair problem. ]
I believe I have achieved a level of soaked so dense that my bones will not dry out until I've reached old age.
no subject
That's a little dramatic, don't you think? [ she smirks a little, stepping forward once the robots finish their task. ] Obviously you've never jumped in the ocean before.
[ reaching a hand out to direct her energy, korra pulls the water from both of the woman's sleeves, letting them ball up in her palms before they splash into the sand at her feet. ]
no subject
[ her hands return to her hair, slender fingers combing through knots until she can scoop it from her eyes and try to tame it. she recognized the swift movement of Korra's hand and the accompanying loss of water immediately, curiosity taking over merely because she had only expected strangers and not someone even mildly familiar in the loosest sense of the word. ]
no subject
someone from home! maybe not someone korra had ever met, but that's not surprising — the world was huge. however, the fact that she didn't seem to recognize korra herself gave her a split-second's pause before she shrugged it off. hey, she was extremely sheltered as a child, who is she to judge others for not being on the up-and-up? ]
I prefer fire, [ korra explains, cocky; but fire won't get this new friend dry, so waterbending it is! korra steps around her back, drawing more water from azula's clothing, the fabric billowing with manipulated energy. ] Or air, if I'm in a rush.
