she smiles, and it's more genuine than sensual, so it's fine. yeah, okay, still not admitting it, but it is nice to not be alone. it's thrilling to be presented with another vampire that isn't already entangled in Maman's mind games. more like Mattie, less a flunky that would run back to mother with anything she did. someone she can have fun with, someone that Gets It. not someone she needs to constantly maintain lies and stay on her toes around. being a vampire is unbearably lonely. is it really so wrong to enjoy the idea of having someone else like you around? )
